Draught @ SOPP 2016. Pours yellowish orange with a smooth head. Aroma of grainy malts, grass and citrus. Taste is crisp, citrusy and grassy with some hay and grainy malts. Finish is grainy, grassy and earthy with some hay and citrus.

Tap at Uusi Apteekki, Turku. Slightly hazy pale amber color, small white head. Light apricot jam aroma, a bit of grainy too. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Fruity apricot, pale malty, light earthy English hop notes. Easy.

Smell of fruit, grain, hop. Hazy golden colour, small white head. Aroma of grain, herbs, grass, hops. Bitter with a faint sourness. Flat carbon, slightly dry palate. Flavours somewhat off balance, too stinging.

Tap at Panimoravintola Koulu, Turku. Colour is clear golden with very small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, apples and some sweetness.Quite horrible.

Draught@Koulu, Turku (backlog). Amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is smooth malts, some bready notes along with mild honey, floral and fruity notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, some nectar, honey and mild bready, grassy and toffeeish notes. Mild "Koulu houseflavour" to be found, but not disturbing the beer.

Smell of fruit, yeast, sone hops. Muddy brown colour, tiny white head. Aroma of yeast, some herbs. Unbalanced. Not good. Muddy palate. 4/1/5/2/9 Rerating 10.7.2020: no clear smell. Cloudy copper colour, white head. Aroma of malt, grass, some grain, a faint of honey in finish. Flat carbon, dry palate. Slightly stuffy. 6/2/6/3/11

Aroma has resiny malt and lactic sourness, also hints of toffee. Flavour has bready malt, some tart citron, mellow lactic tones, toffee and some resiny tones. Finishes with some menthol, lingering hops and cereal. Would not recognize this as Irish ale. The tart Koulu house aroma just does not fit here – and it takes over the whole bouquet at the middle of the glass.

Aroma is ’warm’ and spicy with some clove, gingerbread and peppery spices. Flavour has clove, peppery spices, some malt and toffee. Gets also some malty & bready tones as it warms up. In the background lurks the tart, grapefruit-like house aroma. Excluding that this is rather typical overspiced christmas brew. Feels somewhat thin for this ABV.

Aroma has rather sweet toffee candy. Also a slight feeling of house aroma in the background. Creamy and foamy palate. Flavour is rather weird and messy. It starts with sweet toffee, gets overridden by tartness typical to Koulu beers, turns to grapefruit and ends up dry with minerals leaving a watery feeling. Aroma was promising but flavour is just too messy and tart. Gets some unpleasant milky tones at the middle of the glass.
