Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, malt, and fruit. The falvor is very sweet with strong notes of malt combined with medium notes of fruits - especially peaches, that lingers into the dry finish. Thanks Dr. Bill for sharing.

Bottle shared by BrewEngineer at the 12th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering on 9/18/10. Thanks! Pours a hazy orange-brown color with nearly no head. Aroma of caramel apple, toffee, cinnamon, anise and a doughy note. The taste is caramel, toffee, apple, plum, anise and some booze. Fairly sweet. Medium-full bodied.

Courtesy of jdubFL. Pours copper with thin off white head. The appearance of the body seems light for the style. The aroma is malts, tangelo, toffee, a mild level of boysenberry dark fruitiness and faint bitter pine hops. The taste is pine hops, tangelo, grapefruit, sweet dark fruity esters, apricot and ripe red apples. Pretty nice with a hoppy west coast take on the style.

Bottle: Pours a near black with a finger of creamy brown head. Nose is mostly cocoa with some roast and light coffee. Thick, silky mouthful is rich with chocolate and espresso. The roasty notes lie in the background and mesh well with the bittersweetness of the finish. Amazing body; thick and creamy. Very rich and overall well balanced.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky orange-amber color with a small white head. The aroma was sour, nutty, fruity and a bit rough. The favor was tangy and fruity with light pineapple and grapefruit notes. The finish was long, sweet and fruity. Fairly thick. Decent.

Big thanks goes out to treyrab for this special brew! Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 7/9/2009 Pittsburgh RB tasting extravaganza (PGHRBEXT) at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I see a spread of bottles like I did there. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we served! For example, how about this beer; old tempest! Floating things in the otherwise brownish cloudy pale ale. Old alky aroma of fruit and whisky. Taste is somewhat older alky soaked fruit as well. Strong back of throat bitter feeling builds thru the session. Way too strong for this lager lover. Mouth coating to an extent. Seems to be higher than the 9% listed here. Barely any carbonation. Long bitter alky linger. This beer is more complex and beyond my rating ability, thanks for the experience Trey!
