Orange-amber beer, well-carbonated to just off-white head, very dense and leaving textbook lace. Sourish nose, and at the same time, smelling of artificial sweetener. Bretty, lactic acid, slight smell of unripe fruit. Caramel taste, alleviated by some organic acids. Again I get a pineapple flavour. Very little, if any sourishness in the taste; slight oxydation traceable retronasal. Faint artificial taste, even with a plastic component, which makes it cloying, dry and wry at the same time. Compared to the Van Roost original, or even its Brabrux heir, this is a bl**din’ InBev disgrace.

(Bottle 75 cl) Vintage 1993. Golden and very unclear - almost impure. Extreme sediment inside. Very vinegary but without the subtle and sophisticated flavours found in the best, traditional gueuzes. 150602

(Bottle 33 cl) Amber coloured beer completely lacking head. Dry and acidic - but not overwhelmingly so. Quite pleasant and quenching. Apparently this is a Brussels speciality - a blending beer of Lambic and Flemish sour. 050102

Amber brown, creamy off-white head. Some lace. Aroma has rye-bread, banana, vanilla and yeast. Mouthfeel starts metallic and has some kriek-type sweetness in the middle. Then turns sour with sourish aftertaste.

(Bottle 25 cl) Low alcohols are most often a lager variety, so this low alcohol fruit beer is rather unusual. By appearance this looks very much like a real Kriek, deep red with a small, discreet head. Cherry flavours are very evident with a small, metallic edge. Not much body and no real Lambic tartness. This feels pretty much like a nice soda pop. Actually a pleasant surprise. 210999

Bottle: Reddish amber coloured, huge reddish-white head, lasting; sourish-fruity (cherries, no doubt, almonds) nose, only very little "horse-blanket", or "wet-dog" (?) in the background; cherry-dominated beginning, light sourish flavour, moderate fruity aftertaste, short lasting. Not too sweet, quaffable, but nothing worth a detour.......

Deep ruby beer with a short lived white head that leaves some lacing. Very candy-like cherry aroma. Flavour is more interesting, with some hops to give a somewhat dry finish to the sweet cherry.

Bottled. Orange colour with mediumsized white creamy head. Strong sweet aroma of apricot and weak hints of apple. Sweet apricot with hints of apple and hops in aroma. Gets a bit sweeter in finish, but doesn’t leave much aftertaste.

Can - Bing cherry aroma. Scarlet red color with small head. Intensely sweet black cherry flavor - like a cherry Slurpee. Very nice cherry flavor but no hint of lambic. May be nice if you have a sweet tooth but not when you want a beer. You could really impress a sorority girl by buying her one of these.
