Description
We’re proud to be a small, independent, family-owned business. Our founders Hamish Coates, Mel Holland and Colin Coates have stayed true to this for the entire life of the business.
With no outside investment or intervention, we make decisions based on what’s best for our staff, for our brewery and for the future of our planet.
This means that when it comes to doing the right thing, there are no shareholders or investors to answer to – we can just do it.
We are 100% independent, 100% family owned, and 100% of arguments are won by Ace – the dog!
Our farm and brewery take their name from a natural outcrop of ironstone that runs through the centre of our farm; “Rocky Ridge” perfectly sums up our slice of paradise and ironically sums up the somewhat rocky road that we are on as well.

Can. Very dark brown, a good cm of beige head. Shyish stone fruit, citrus and chocolate brioche aroma. Just medium bodied. The citrus is more grapefruity than suggested by the aroma, there's a little roast and it's quite thinly bitter (getting a bit parching) at the end. A 30ml splash of a stout would make a good good mix with this one.

Can. Just misted pale gold with a cm of white head. Piercing herbal grapefruit aroma with honeydew melon, pine needles and crackers. Moderately sweet with a little breadcrust under the hops. Almost too clean. There's enough bitterness so the aromatics don't completely overwhelm the whole thing, but just.

Can. Pretty much opaque orange with about a cm of white head. Aroma of vague citrus, some menthol, pineapple, greenish mango, crackers. Cleaner than guessed and the fruit flavours are more vibrant than suggested by the aroma. A brief, moderately bitter finish with some grassy and herbal notes. Dangerously swiggable & pretty good.

Can. Clear deep amber with a cm or so of beige head. Malty aroma of caught toast, dried fruit. Rich but moderately sweet with dried fruit - sultanas, wild figs - and toast. Modestly hopped but a little lilt of bitterness and some spices at the end lift the sweetness away. Harmonious.

Pours hazy orange with a sudsy white lasting head.Nose shows orange marmalade, tangerine, orange blossom, floral hops, spicy and piny notes. Behind in clean caramel.Flavours include more orange marmalade before transitioning to heavier pine, resinous hops and spicy/herbal notes. Sweet clean malt follows along with an assertive bitterness.

Pours gold with a large lasting head.Very soft aroma, some spicy hops and super delicate hay-like malt notes.Subtle flavours also. More hay, some corn-like notes, before finishing cleanly.Lackluster but I suppose that's what one should expect from a Mexican styled lager, even if it is 6.19% abv.

Can. Cloudy gold with an inch of white head. Aroma of kumquat, mandarin, light bread, hints of pine. Dryish but the pale malt is rich enough. No hint of crystal malt. Pithy citrus leads to a firmly bitter finish. Minor tropical and piney notes. Very good.
