light golden color. Frothy white head. Perfumy nose with some stewed apricot and apple notes, but very much a new world take on the style. Low carbonation medium bitterness, but weird yeast character that I didn’t care for. A bit simple. Lots of banana creampie. Very much a new world crappy rendition of the style I don’t like. Not a disaster but not motivated to finish my sample - in line with a US brewpub chain take on the style.

Brown with no head. Aroma of booze, cough syrup, raisins, oak, caramel and overripe dark fruits. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Draft at Kamikaze, Osaka 7th Anniversary. Hazy golden orange with a white head. Aroma of citrus, lemon, herbs, peppery yeast and cherry blossom. Flavour is light moderate sweet and bitter. Light to medium bodied with moderate prickly carbonation.

Tap at Craft Beer Works, Kamikaze, Tokyo. Poured a clear dark brown colour with no life. The aroma is big vinous, oaky, woody, molasses, soy sauce. The flavour is sweet, herbal, molasses, light fruity, vinous, boozy palate. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. Somewhat off the wall. This won’t win too many friends.

Tap at Craft Beer Kamikaze, Osaka. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, light citrus, juicy floral hop. The flavour is grainy, citrus, zesty yuzu like with a light, crisp, dry fruity, herbal, floral hop palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation and a bubbly mouthfeel.
