Bottle from The Bottle Shop, Hanoi. Poured a murky dark brown, almost black colour. The aroma is light roasty malt, grainy, floral, light spicy citrus hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth, rich, light caramel malt, grassy, light fruit, dry charcoal, light dry floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. The best beer by far that I’ve had so far from Long Bien. A black IPA is generally nice with some carbonation but for a quality beer it’s not absolutely necessary.
