0,33L bottle (from Kaubamaja, Tallinn), batch 045, BB 13.07.15. Pours slightly hazy amber with beige head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is intense tropical fruits, peaches, citrus, floral, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, tropical fruits, citrus, peaches, malt. Finish is grapefruit bitter. Overall: great brew. Update: had it again, and I’m really enjoyng this, so added extra point. Batch 3, BB 23.03.17, first batch brewed at their own brewery (from UJH).Pours clear dark amber with whiteish head. Aroma is intense Mosaic, caramel, malt. Flavor is also very mosaic forward, sweet and bitter, malt, caramel. Finish is citric bitter. Feels jammy, like many Estonian IPA-s. Overall: would prefer less sweetness and caramel (I’m pretty sure that Põhjala’s version was less sweet and jammy), but this is still great showcase of Mosaic hops, so if you like Mosaic, you’ll like this one. Rating for the new version: 8:3:7:3:15=3.6

33cl bottle from De Tolly Joogipood, Tartu. Pours clear deep golden to amber with an off-white head. Hoppy and fruity aroma with lots of citrus, some tropical fruits, malt, caramel and hints of pine and herbs. Medium to moderate sweet with dominating fruity and hoppy flavours and a nice bitterness. Well balanced and certainly a decent IPA!

(Bottle, 0.33 l - batch 032 - BB 210515, at Hopner, 20141227) The beer poured black. Its head was small and white. Aroma had dark chocolate, liquorice, fruitiness and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, fruitiness, alcohol, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy, sweet, roasty and bitter. Alcohol was pushing throught way too heavily.

Pours dark and deep brown. Not much of a head but what it has is nice and brown. Aroma is fresh and hoppy. Sort of what I would expect from IBIPA. Actually in a blind taste when I am not seeing the colour of the drink, I might guess this is just a normal IPA or DIPA - hop freshness is so obvious. However, as I know this drink is black, I can also feel some roast malt behind the hop resin freshness. Taste is black IPA as it should be. First I am getting the hops - attacking my tongue and actually leaving somewhat sour impression. Funny. Then the bitterness from roast malts is coming through next. Intense black and bitter chocolate character with espresso coffee. Aftertaste really lasts long. Overall a very nice and well executed beer, fresh and strong and has tons of character. Will drink this one again. Soon.
