Description
Against The Grain offers an eclectic line of canned and barrel-aged beers. We can be found in up to 43 states in the good o' USA, upwards of 25 countries around the world, and, of course, right here the home in Louisville, KY.

Against the Grain Portland is our production facility. We have a three vessel 30 barrel system alongside five 60 barrel fermenters and our canning line. We also barrel age all of our beer at this location. (only open for special events)

Christian Firtal Pale Ale Festival 2012 - Day One. Hazy golden with a lasting white head. Faint malty aroma with herbal and citrus hops. Sweetish malty flavour with a touch of diacetyl, grassy malt and solid bitterness. Just a little too bitter for the weak body.

tap at mikkeller. Clear very dark brown, smooth beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, mild. Flavor is dark malts, lots and lots of bitter dark caramel,licorice, some sweet malts. quite foamy, end is bitter caramel, bitter and sweet malts.

Growler courtesy shrubber85. Coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, ash aroma. Black with a minimal head. Coffee malt, sweet chocolate, and light acidic flavor with a light bitter finish. Full smooth body. Extremely nice.

From tap at Bishops Arms. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a small off white head. Aroma is fruity and toasted malt. Light yeasty, caramelish toasted malty. Toffee caramelish and light fruity into a toasted malty finish.

From tap at MikkellerBar. Pours dark brown with a deep amber glare and a small tan head. Aroma is frui, light toasted malty and caramelish. Mild smoked, dark malty, caramelish and smoked. Smooth sweet malty and light caramelish. Dense malty and light smoked finish.

Hazy golden color. It has a nice fruity aroma, apricots, maybe oranges. Malt flavor, with round mouthfeel and some sugars; it has a delicate fruity trace, oranges and light grapefruit, along with a good hopping, that is fruity and resiny.

On tap. Clear orangey brown with a creamy, beige head. Sweet burned caramel and a subtle note of smoke. Medium body, sweet burned caramel and dark fruit and again light smoke. Subdued bitterness. For a Smoked this is actually quite elegant and drinkable. 280412

Draft. A dark red beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, bread, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, alcohol, and smoke, leading to a dry amokey finish.
