Description
Against The Grain offers an eclectic line of canned and barrel-aged beers. We can be found in up to 43 states in the good o' USA, upwards of 25 countries around the world, and, of course, right here the home in Louisville, KY.

Against the Grain Portland is our production facility. We have a three vessel 30 barrel system alongside five 60 barrel fermenters and our canning line. We also barrel age all of our beer at this location. (only open for special events)

Tap at source. Cherry, apple and rye malt aroma. Dark amber color with small head. Lightly sweet apple, rye malt and moderately bitter pine hops flavor. Nice body. Hoppy - AtG makes some great rye beers.

Tap from source. Ash,chocolate and coffee malt aroma. Black color with small tan head. Mildly sweet chocolate and coffee malt flavor with a mildly bitter herbal hops finish. Incredibly smooth with no discernible alcohol. An easy drinking imperial stout - excellent.

Bottle. Coffee and chocolate malt aroma - very nice. Dark brown color with small head. Chocolate coffee malt flavor with a sweet brown sugar finish. Very tasty - a great brown ale.

Tap. Orange barley malt aroma. Golden yellow color with small head. Sweet orange barley malt and orange peel hops flavor. A very nice beer - a lot hoppier than is typical for the style but still a nice drinker.

Tap @ Bishops Arms, Copenhagen. Clear dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, rye, caramel and moderate hoppy. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish. Smooth and soft. 240412

Tap @ Fairbar. Pours light golden with a creamy white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, sweet fruity, citrus. Taste is malt, caramel, sweet fruit, orangepeel, light pine. Thin to medium body, lively carbonation. 140412

On tap at Local Option. Pours a clear amber brown wilts light brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has dark grains with a bit of coffee and backing rye that has light spice. Flavor has dark grains, nuttiness and light bitter chocolate with rye that comes out in the finish.

Tap (growler). Light apple and barnyard malt aroma. Hazy amber color with small head. Lightly smoky strong barnyard barley malt flavor, Not your typical smoked beer - smells like I’m back in a little German farm village.

Growler. Chocolate/coffee malt, charcoal aroma. Dark brown with a moderate creamy tan head, good lacing. Chocolate/coffee malt, earth flavor with a light bitter hop finish. Light bodied.
