7.5/10 β€” Appearance 8 Aroma 7 Flavor 7 Texture 8 Overall 8
Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a rosy red amber body that supports a light tan colored head. The mild aroma offers up some winter spices, sweet prune and fig fruity esters and a thin ring of vague hoppy resiny bitterness. The taste has a lot going on with a mix of rye spicy twang, resiny pine hops, big winter spices and a modest degree of sweet dark fruity esters in the background. The spiciness starts to pick up a bit of a cinnamon and ginger blended with a mild rye sort of note. This is a nice hoppy winter sipper.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a clear copper body that supports a near white head. The aroma offers up mostly resiny hops that have pine and a spiciness going on. The taste is nice with hoppy goodness that has pine sliding into a rye twang note. This has big ole’ resiny hop goodness going on that’s right in your face (and your mouth). Pretty solid.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a clear copper body that supports a near white head. The aroma offers up a bit of pine hoppiness blended and sweetened with crystal malts. The taste is a sort of buttery resin pine hop mix that is not working too well for me. It even gets candy like with a vague sort of fruitiness. This smells decent but the flavor is off.

Pale Lager rating #100, :(
Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a nice crystal clear gold body that supports a white head of foam that leaves behind some nice lacing. The modest aroma offers up some ester fruity lager notes as well as corn on the cob goodness. The taste delivers a pleasing mix of bitter hops and sort of herbal hops, floral hoppiness and then creamed corn notes sliding into modest sweet lagery esters. It ends with a nice lingering hoppiness. Solid hop forward and crisp tasting lager.

Cask ... yup a 10% Quad on cask, at Acoustic Ales tasting room, SD, 19/04/14. Opaque dark mahogany brown with a moderate light beige covering that retains well. Nose is bubblegum, toffee, spice, yeast esters, banana. Taste comprises fruit loaf, toffee, boozey tones, dates, yeast esters, dark fruit rinds, light spice. Full bodied, soft carbonation, boozey fruit laden curtain call. Ok quad, a little heavy going at times and a brave choice for cask dispense but they just about pulled off a drinkable sipper here!

Cask at Acoustic Ales, SD, 19/04/14. I too a picture of the beer list but this was the one and only beer that didn’t list an ABV - doh! Clear pale golden with a good sized off white covering. Nose is punchy hops, spice, bread dough, bitter citrics, grapefruit, orange pith. Taste comprises nice dank hop tones, pissy dank NZ goodness, grapefruit, bitter citric rind, toasted malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness. Top draw IPA, and they pulled this off on cask!

Cask at Acoustic Ales, SD, 19/04/14. Black with a moderate tan covering. Nose is big roast, orange peel well evident, spice, dark chocolate, toffee fudge. Taste comprises roast malt, liqourice, molasses, mineral bite, hint of aniseed, orange rind, chocolate. Medium boied, soft carbonation, smooth and massageing on the palate, a little dryness in the close. Solid stuff, a brave step to put a 9.5% stout on cask but this one worked pretty well!
