ISLEY BREWING COMPANY is a Micro Craft brewery located in Richmond, Virginia.
We were the first Craft brewery to open in the Scott’s Addition area in the Fall of 2013 by owner and Richmond native, Mike Isley.
It’s been our intention from the beginning to make the best craft beer with the best ingredients for our guests to enjoy in our expansive tasting room.
To this day, our founding brewer, Josh Stamps, is still turning out award winning beers and winning people’s hearts with his artisan’s approach to brewing.
Stamp's accomplishments include:
- Choosy Mother ranking #23 in the state of Virginia by Beer Advocate, and voted Best Beer in Richmond 2020
- Creating the best IPA in Virginia 2014 by CAH
- Keeping us in the top 3 Breweries in Richmond for 3 years running
- Helping make Isley one of the top 50 brewery destinations in the world to visit by USA TODAY!

Draft at 2014 Virginia IPA Challenge: Coffee nose. Cloudy brown, thin yellow head. Strong pronounced coffee flavor. Finishes dirty with soil, tree bark, and charred oak. Drinks more like a strong American Brown than an India Dark. Good.

Aroma: The nose is clean and hoppy, with some pine, citrus, and caramel notes
Appearance: It pours a cloudy orange color with a decent sized off-white head
Flavor: The taste is much the same, with some sweetness, and a decent bitterness too
Palate: The body is medium, it has a solid mouthfeel, and a fairly dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty decent IPA. It isn't a standout in the style, but a decent IPA. Glad to see these guys joined the Richmond beer scene, and I look forward to trying more of their beers in the future.

Aroma: The nose of this one has roasted malts, dark chocolate, and peanut butter
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown color with a tan head and decent lace
Flavor: The taste is roasted and malty, oatmeal, chocolate malts, and a bit of peanut butter
Palate: The body is medium, it has a decent amount of creaminess, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a really nice beer. Definitely my favorite of the two I tried here. There's enough chocolate and peanut butter here to make for a good flavor, but it isn't overly sweet, which could have happened pretty easily.

Sample at Station 2. Brownish-black color with a thin beige head that dissipates steadily to a wispy film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, peanut butter and chocolate. Medium-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, peanut butter and coffee. The finish is sweet with a peanut butter and chocolate aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Draft at the brewery, 11/15/13. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin off-white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of sweet wheat, spice, banana, pineapple. The taste is wheat, canned fruit, banana, mild spice. Medium bodied. More like a hefeweizen than a witbier. Thin-medium bodied.
