The Answer you've been waiting for.

Founder and Chief Beer Officer, An Bui has gained international recognition in his years spent working at his family-owned restaurant, Mekong, the Vietnamese eatery located in Richmond, Virginia. Founded in 1995, Mekong flourished into an award-winning spot for beer enthusiasts because of its wide variety of rare and international beers and expansive food menu. After years of spreading his passion for craft beer to the local community and throughout, Bui decided to take things a step further. On September 2, 2014, An opened the doors to The Answer Brewpub, his very own craft brewery. Featuring 56 taps, 2 bars, and an exceptional stage area for live music, The Answer has become another means of An’s continuous vision to expand the Richmond beer community.

Draught @ the brewpub. Pours slightly hazy straw with small white head. Clear aroma of hops and citrus, with malty and fruity notes and estery touches. Sweetish, malt flavour with intense, bitter, hoppy and citric notes and estery touches. Fruity hints. Bitter and estery aftertaste with subtle grassy touches. Nice. I had expected something slightly sweeter, though.

Draught @ the brewpub. Pours hazy ligt amber with small off-white head. Clear aroma of hops and fruit, with citric notes and malty touches. Bitter, hoppy flavour with notes of grass and malt and touches of yeast. Bitterish aftertaste. Perhaps armed with a mind, but not with carbon dioxide. Rather watery and tame but easy to drink.

Keg at the VA Craft Brewers Festival. Hazy yellow, thin frothy head, poor retention. Aroma of citrus, lemongrass, tropical fruit. The taste is tropical fruit, zest, citrus, pine, lemongrass, lemon, pale malt. Medium bodied, strong lingering bitterness. One of the best beers of the festival, so it’s not surprising it won best of show!
