Description
Scofflaw burst onto the scene during the latter half of 2016 and has quickly become recognized for its highly sought after IPAs and Stouts including Basement IPA, POG Basement IPA, as well as its higher-gravity IPAs such as the Double Jeopardy and Hooligan. Scofflaw's Absentium Stout, and in particular the Barrel Aged Vanilla Absentium stout, are coveted among traders. Even so, Scofflaw's focus continues to be on Atlanta's west midtown area and its surrounding neighborhoods, such as the Bolton hood.

Citrus, pine, and slight caramel on the nose. Pours a healthy, slightly hazed gold with a fluffy off-white head and ample lacing. Starts with hints of green pepper and orange, then quickly develops a pineapple-passion fruit middle, offset by hefty caramel and biscuit malts and a firm bitter back end. Citrus finish leads to a piney, resinous fade, lingering notes of toasted grain and black pepper meshing with the lemon-tinged bitterness. Creamy, oily IPA texture only adds to the drinkability. Good beer.

Juicy and tropical, with a grainy malt middle to accentuate the tangy passion fruit, pineapple and lemon coming from the citra hops. Incredibly drinkable, with a nice smooth texture and the slightest boozy warmth. Could use a tad more bitterness, but otherwise a very good IPA.

12oz can pours a muddy, brown / black with some cloudy, sand colored head. Nose has brown and black toasted malts, some nice milk chocolate notes, dank coffee bean. Flavor is sweet with milk chocolate, brown sugar but the coffee note is there. There’s a distinct soda note; not quite cola but not quite cream soda. Finishes mostly dry.

On tap at the Brick Store Pub. Pours clear yellow, with a small, off-white head. The aroma is pineapple and mango, with some butterscotch, and pecans. Sweet and sugary, with a strong, smooth bitterness. Clean, sharp finish. Medium body, silky, smooth, and clean. This is a well made, simple and approachable IPA.
