Sample at Hattiesburg fest. Brewer explained that this is a completely new recipe, now that they’re a bit more established and have wider access to hops and malts. Hazy golden amber color, white head. Nice fruity aroma. Taste is juicy citrus. Tasty.

Draft at the source. Ah yes, the famous Crowd Control. It’s cloudy golden with a bright white head. Aroma has bright orange and pineapple. Taste is bittersweet citrus, nicely balanced, dry finish. Easy drinking for its abv. Lives up to it reputation.

Can at the hotel in NOLA - sourced from Stein’s. Pours hazy orange-gold with a creamy topping. The nose has a little faded pine, grainy malts, crackers, citrus rind. Medium sweet flavour with light toasted cracker notes, orange rind, bread, grain, berries, melon. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with a little gooey resin, more ripening and rindy citrus fruits, some white grape gummies, pale bread. So so overall. May not be in peak freshness.

Keg at Avenue Pub - NOLA. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Rounded dark malt nose with impressions of torched wood, lots of ripe and gooey berries, raisins and figs, toasted toffee. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with creamy toffee, faint cocoa, a little toast, vanilla, plenty more ripe and gooey berries, dark fruits, mild burnt earth bitterness. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation and velvety texture. Lightly warming in the finish, with more raisins, dates and figs, a little woody dryness, earth, creamy vanilla, rich toffee. This is big boy beer. Really rich, wonderfully layered, and incredibly smooth. World-class stuff.
