12 can from Brewers Haven. Flat caramel colored pour. First on the nose is the hazelnuts, soft banana notes. Taste finishes with the banana, can't find the chocolate, minor hazelnuts and vanilla. Lacto gives it a slick, creamy feel.

Can picked up at the Moscow Co-Op… hemmed and hawed for a few minutes before putting one of these in the cart. Previous experiences with Cheladas is not good, but I do like a Bloody Mary and so far the experimental/unique sours from Shades have been solid. Initial impression is a nose that leans towards a ‘standard’ sour ale, after warming a few minutes the tomato juice is apparent. A little bit of spice too. It looks the part, a little less red than a Bloody Mary, but fairly thick and sludgy looking with a thin ring of white head. Up front the tomato juice and vegetable flavors, presumably from the celery seed, is mild and enjoyable. It moves into more traditional sour flavors before finishing with a light spicy end… really the level of spice is just about perfect. The mouthfeel is comparable to a Bloody Mary. For something I didn’t think I’d like, but had to try, this easily exceeded my expectations. I could honestly see myself craving one of these from time to time, especially during tail gate season.
