Pounder from Aldi Waynesboro VA: Mild lemongrass nose. Clear amber, medium head, good lace. Lemongrass, quite vegetal midpalate. Light body, easy carbonation. Even for the relatively low price I paid for this, it wasn’t worth it.

Tap. Pours clear black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is odd, not really maple, more sasparilla perhaps? Rooty, woody, yes some maple, cocoa, roast malt. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, a bit weird. Medium body, soft mouthfeel.

Copper color. Moderate amount of grassy hopsin the aroma, the beer seems fresh. Mildly bitter hop flavor, clearly an ipa, so decent quality here.

On tap a New Bohemia. Pours clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has light citrus and grass with a hay note supporting. Flavor has more citrus with grass and grains supporting.

Aroma is just plain "beery". Flavor’s on the bland side. Slightly malty, bit of fruit, on the dry side. Except for in the finish where there is a bit of sweet. Body is slightly thin. Forgettable brew.

Draft at Red Cow. Clear maroon amber color, thick tan head with solid lacing. Aroma of brown sugar Taste is shockingly sweet burnt brown sugar.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 7/15/2015. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/chocolate/coffee, herbal, light dark fruit, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/chocolate/coffee, herbal, light dark fruit, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nutty/chocolate/coffee, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. damn nice robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; with a great bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a damn nice American brown ale style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Can thanks to Kyle! Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of sweet honey dew, some yogurt with a hint of tartness and a sweet wheat backbone. Flavor has a combination of wheat, yogurt and sweet honey dew.
