Description
Musa is a beer for folks who think “I really feel like having a beer” made by folks who think “I really feel like brewing beer”. We used recipes from the olden days and traditional craftsman methods to create a revolutionary beer. So revolutionary it should wear a beret instead of a cap.

Keg at Cerveteca Lisboa. It pours hazy orange - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, orange marmalade, candied peel, toasty grain, orange blossom and brioche. The taste is bitter, piney, resin, orange peel, easy rind, marmalade, bready, lick of alcohol and spice with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty punchy and bitter. Good stuff.

Bottle. Grassy resiny citrusy hoppiness, med-high bitterness, med-thin body, light caramel. Easy drinking. The hops character could use more kick though. Overall a good one.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 09/2017, thanks Susanna, 20170413) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, herbalness and grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, citricness, tangerine, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A good hoppy brew with balanced long-lasting aftertaste.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 16B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch LO00088 (BBF 05/17). AROMA: medium roasted malt aroma with black coffee notes, in balance with a nutty presence. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. slight ruby highlights. medium-low light brown head with medium-low retention. TASTE: initial medium nutty flavor, followed by a coffee and slightly sweet malty background. medium bitterness with a burnt and dry finish. PALATE: medium body with low carbonation. slight dark grains astringency. OVERALL: an oatmeal stout that needs some fine tuning on the roasted malts.
