Description
We’re just a bunch of beer geeks who have all pondered the same question: “With breweries popping up everywhere else in Alabama, why not in the southern part of the state?” Rather than sit around a bemoan the answer, we decided to do something about it, and the Fairhope Brewing Company was born.

The Fairhope Brewing Company is located at 914 Nichols Ave., just a block off Highway 98 in Fairhope, Ala., and less than five minutes from beautiful downtown. Our taproom is open six days a week, offering a comfortable atmosphere to meet up with friends and enjoy a variety of our hand-crafted beers. We don't have a kitchen, but please feel free to bring in your own food.

Draft at Free the Hops FestivAle in Birmingham. Hazy very pale yellow color, champagne bubbles. Aroma of light lemon. Taste is earthy and softly sour citrus. Nice.

Draft. Clear amber color, thick off white head with good retention and solid lacing. Nice aroma of mixed summer fruit and light pine. Taste is fruity citrus and pine, moderate bitterness. Very tasty.

Draft at the source. Very dark maroon color, thick brown head with nice retention and solid lacing. Nice pine and dark cocoa aroma. Taste is unsweetened cocoa, bitter and floral finish. Very tasty.

Draft at the source. Crystal clear bright golden yelloe color, creamy thick head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of perfume and a bit of sweat. Taste is floral and herbal, mildly bitter and dry finish. Tasty.

Painted Black IPA from Fairhope Brewing Company

Growler from Liquor Express in Huntsville. The plastic bottle had a little too much adventure, so my sample may be a little off. Pours black, with just a few bubbles, and no head. Resin and citrusy hops, light coffee and chocolate malts. Light malty sweetness up front, with significant bitterness through the finish, and long into the aftertaste. Medium body, oily, and very astringent. Overall, this is a mediocre black IPA. No carbonation, and a relatively unpleasant flavor. Hopefully I can resample this sometime, uncontaminated.
