Clear amber color, short off-white head. Aroma of hop, cascade, malt, some toffee. Soft taste, very bitter, sweet malts. Bit oak maybe. Bitter palate. Nice.

(sampled at the Düsseldorf RB gathering) Clear, amber colour with an off-white foamy head. Slightly toasty nose with pleasant citrousy, floral hops. Citrousy hoppy bitter flavour, soft and slightly caramel-malty background, light barrique-notes. Dry, slightly roasted, woody and aromatic hoppy finish with a lingering aftertaste.

Bottle, 7.2%. Nice, bonbony sweet hop aroma. Almost clear red/brown colour. Very bitter flavour with good aroma hops. Ends on a weak, but nice, vanilla, cigarbox aftertaste.

Dark, cloudy orange appearance. Aroma is surprisingly sweet but it is more of a citrus, pine hop sweetness rather than from malt. There is a solid malt body but the aroma is more citrus hops and florals. This is still very good but I don’t think age has done it any favors.

Not significantly different from Arrogant Bastard — the oak just a whisper in the background. So, this is every bit as good as Arrogant Bastard with an added bonus. Cloudy copper pour with dense-bubbled, beige head that pools like a Belgian strong ale. Strong malty nose — bread and caramel and floral. Flavor is sweet with oak in the background before turning very bitter. Medium body and comfortable carbonation. Long, bitter and dry finish. Nice.

Bottle courtesy of Beerandblues2: Poured a dark brown color ale with a nice medium brown foamy head with good retention. Aroma of citrus hops with some nice caramel malt. Taste is sweeter then expected with lots of caramel malt and a medium bitter finish with some citrusy hops. Body is definitely above average with some medium carbonation. I thought the oak presence was quite subtle and overall this is more reminiscent to a barleywine then an American Strong Ale but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle (at the Düsseldorf Gathering): Strong fruity and aromatic-hoppy nose; robust to strong bitter dry flavour, medium bodied; lingering distinctive dry resinous-hoppy finish. Very decent stuff.........

Bottle at the Düsseldorf Gathering. Lightly hazy amber body. Creamy, lightly brown body. Splendid aroma of liquor and a lot of american hops. Heavily bitter, lightly sweet (caramel) flavour. More than ok, but the balance is not totally perfect. But still very complex. Not too aggressive.

Draft at 3Floyds brewpub. Incredible that I’ve taken this long to find a Stone beer.Pours dark brown, but still lets a nice red light shine through. Thin head with a clingy lace. Big hoppy taste all right. I catch some pine, but it doesn’t try to take over the bitterness, and it’s matched by a big burly malt taste. Nice and sweet, with plenty of alcohol warmth.
