Getrunken beim RB Treffen in Düsseldorf am 6.1.07 Malzig aromatischer Geruch, leicht süßlich. Sehr schwerer Geschmack, tief röstmalzern, man spürt einen alkoholischen Touch. Im nachgeschmack dagegen sehr hopfig, dabei leicht rauchig, gut gelungen. Test vom 7.1.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,14,10,12,11,12 - 11,95

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a dark orange head. The aroma is extremely hoppy which gives it strong notes of grapefruit, but it also has strong notes of alchol. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel and grapefruit, and only hints of vanilla, leading to a dry bitter end. Nice - but to me the oak notes are too subdued.

Draught. Sweet hop aroma with some caramellized sugar. Deep chestnut colour. Light brown head, creamy and quite stable. The flavour is quite hoppy, on the brink of snapping the aroma hop flavour. Rather bitter aftertaste. Quite drinkable in spite of its ABV. 7 3 7 3 17

#300 Bottle 22oz Pours out a crisp amber topped with a nice tall head. Great hop nose and tast as well. A very nice caramel tast. WOW this was GREAT

12 oz bottle...floral aroma a little dishrag like...says J.S....like a towel that has been in the bathroom too long...i diddnt get all that but...it had a wonderful hop flavor ..and a brown color...oak is subtle little bit of vanilla on finish along with a sticky mouth...once again stone delivers!

12 oz. bottle. Brown body with a thick tan head. A bit of a coppery/orange translucence to this around the edges. Aromas are caramel, peat, and maybe some pineapple/citrus hops. Texture is thick and a bit creamy. Sweet malt notes give way to a brisk hops presence and then the oak flavoring finishes things out very smoothly. I really like the way the oak smooths out the finish here. Probably a touch better balanced than the original, but sacrifices a bit of the hops bite.

Brown body that pretty cloudy. Head is about two fingers of tan/orange froth. Aromas are strong and sweet. Pinapple and oranges with a caramel background. Mouthfeel is sticky and viscous with a bit of an antiseptic quality if the alcohol catches you just wrong... it doesn’t happen every sip and isn’t horrible. Flavor is a nicely balanced version of the aroma... caramel like malt body that holds up a pineapple hops presence and gives way to a warm and bitter bite left by alcohol and hops in the finish. Very well balanced, but makes little effort to hide the fact that it is probably stronger than you are and will whoop your butt. The sweetness can be a bit cloying.

Bottle. Poured copper brown with thick long lasting head. Aroma of hops an caramel. Flavour of hops, malt citrus and oat? Long lasting hoppy finish. I tasted the finish half an hour later.

Bottle poured a redish light brown with a light tan head. Aroma is of medium dark malts and plenty of bittering hops. Some alcohol as well. The flavor was as expected per its unoaked brother. I was actually surprised how subtle the "oaking" was. Not overdone, for sure as some can be. Long and strong bitter finish, but plenty of robust malts to make this big all around.

12 oz bottle; Nose of citrus hops and oak; dark rusty color with a thick, long-lasting, glass-lacing beige head; flavor is citrusy hopiness with small oak accents in it’s medium body, that fade into a bitter hop finish.
