Description
Our philosophy is to brew beer with the adventurous craft beer drinker in mind—focusing on hand-crafted, small batches of beer, using local, seasonal and organic ingredients as much as possible.
Our beers are influenced mostly by Belgian and American craft styles, but the addition of premium ingredients such as fruits, spices or wild yeast strains sometimes causes the beers to defy traditional categories. Our barrel aging program features a wide variety of beers aged in wine and spirits barrels, ranging from a Rye barrel-aged Mexican Chocolate Stout to a wild yeast-fermented Saison aged on Missouri wine grapes in French oak wine barrels. We strive to always achieve balance with each of our recipes, making our beers exceptional with food.

Can at Ambasada. Pitch black body, off-white head. Unusual aroma, somehow corn-like, but huge coffee too. Smooth corny coffee taste, bit burnt, sweetish creamy body, with some alcohol... huh, bit of a disappointment.

Bottle.
A- Deep dark brown color, opaque liquid, brown head.
A- Chocolate, vanilla.
F- Chocolate, vanilla, faint spice, mild sweetness.
T- Full body, slightly thin texture, slightly fizzy carbonation, slightly unbalanced finish.
O- Honestly I expected more. The base beer is better than this one. Not nearly as complex as I thought, maybe the vanilla hides too much? Solid beer but the abraxas bottles I've had this year just haven't been as good as what I've had in the past. Could be better for the price and name.

No head whatsoever; looks like dark cognac. Bourbon, other strong drinks - cognac mixed with Bourbon & rum? Dark chocolate, dried (dark) fruit; plums on alcohol, boerejongens . Very sweet, Turkish delight, syrup, but with just a touch of almost-sour-fruitflavour, fleetingly volatile. Raisins, dried black grapes, grapejuice reduction. Almost solid, viscous, voluptuous. Alcoholheat. If it weren't for the just too excessive sweetness, this would have scored a lot higher. That tantalizing hint of fruitsour accentuated would have done the trick.

750ml (thx, Brent L.!) @ Ryan's. 43rd birthday gathering.
Aroma: sweet, oaky, some roasted malt.
Taste: along the same lines, quite harsh and not balanced.
Overall: meh.

750mL bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma has a nice melange of toffee, bourbon barrels, dark fruits, and a touch of citrus fruits. Flavour is rather tart—there’s got to be a slight infection here—with citrus fruits, a touch of barrel, and sticky sugars. Definitely slightly off here with that subtle tartness. Needs to be fixed.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Near black with minimal beige head. A bit phenolic, plastic band aid note, mild barrel in the background. Average, definitely some off notes.
