From a bottle at the EBF Saturday Nice rich coffee and chocolate but feels like it needs more sweetness to me.

Refrigerated brown bottle, compliments of BMart, poured into a weizen glass. Pours hazy golden with huge fluffy head. Aroma is light citrus hops, light body, well carbonated, and some lacing. Taste is herbal/grassy hops, some citrus, and bitter finish. This beer may not hold up well with age, regardless I don’t think this is one for me.

Bottle. Deep mahogany with a large tan head. Sweet chocolate and earthy oat aroma. Light chocolate, roasty malt, and earthy oat flavor with a light bitter finish. Medium creamy body, moderate carbonation. Very much like a porter, as opposed to a brown ale. Very nice.

Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice roasted malt with some bitter bakers chocolate and licorice. Flavor is a nice roast malt with a minor anise and an even more minor licorice. Finish is a bit of char off the malt with some more lack licorice. A decent attempt at a Baltic porter. Probably too good just to sell at schnucks.

On tap at Bangers and Lace. Pours a near black with an earthy light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice combination of coffee and roasted malts with a bit of dark grain backing. Flavor has a similar combination of roasted malts and coffee with a hint of bitter chocolate and a hint of dryness.
