On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. It pours a purplish red with a light pink head of foam. I get what shoulderbroken is saying in that it is fairly juice like. A very fruity nose, somewhat wine like not cranberry so much as grape - yeasty. The taste is somewhat cloying raisin-grape flavor without much malt or hop presence. A tasty drink that isn’t all that beer like or cranberry. Fun low ABV fruitiness though.

On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. A light gold, slightly cloudy. It has a nice malty body with some hop profile in the nose. Medium to light bodied, well balanced with crackery malt character and a nice clean fairly bitter finish. Pretty good.

Bottle direct from the brewery, 500ml for about 650 yen - a decent price. A wonderful amber brown pour with a thick light beige head & a HUGE Sakura Mochi sweet aroma. Very sweet, a touch of cinnamon it brings to mind the Kyoto speciality Sakura Yatsuhashi. Medium bodied with a slightly rough carbonation the taste is straight up Japanese sweets, cinnamon & Sakura with a Mochi (rice cake) breadiness. after warming up some biscuity malt notes come through. It finishes on an earthy vibe, pretty good but that initial flavor punch is quite sweet & if you aren’t a fan of cinnamon & Sakura Mochi you probably won’t enjoy this. But for a taste of Japanese Spring Hanami Parties this is pretty damn good.

dark brown color. Fantastic chocolate, dark malt with a touch if smoke in the nose. Very dry body, smooth as silk and perfectly balanced. Chocolate malt shines. Lovely.

On tap at the Yokohama Brewer’s Cup, the version I had was 7% made with Nelson & Motrioka hops from NZ. I was told the US hop version is more citrus and this one was more white grape. It poured a very cloudy gold with a thick white foamy head. The aroma matched what I was told as it was totally grape! White grape followed bu spicy yeast esters, very palatable but no real sakura flavor. The carbonation is light but there’s alot of it, made me want to burp. Pretty Good. --- Regular American Hop Version--- April 2014--- Bottle from the brewery. Cloudy straw gold with a huge white head of foam. Yeasty, peppery aroma. The mouthfeel is soft & light - very similar to a saison. The taste is funky, barnyard, citrus, much less yeasty than the last time I had it but a favorite of the night among my friends. A really solid beer no matter how you hop it.

Draft at the source. Cloudy yellow color. Aroma of rising bread dough. Taste starts malty, then fruity citrus and bread. Interesting.
