On Tap at the brewpub Deep clear brown with a large and lasting sandy colored head. Sheeting lacing that stays till the sapler glas was bereft of its malty goodness. Lots of lightly roasted malt aromas and flavors. Slightly sweet and woody, very low on the hops per the style. Quite thin body. Tasty.

On Tap at the brewpub Hazy orange amber witha modest white head and lots of persistant lacing. Aroma is very citrusy. Flavor is a nice balance, of citrus, orange hops and soft dark malts. Not very hoppy for the style but well rounded and easy to put down. Smooth and soft feel with plenty of body.

On Tap at the brewpub Clear slightly redish light amber with a small off white head, and traces of lacing. Sweet woody malt flavor and lively carbonation. Low hops and lacking any real bitter trailer.

Growlerout of the tap that afternoon. Very dark but not quite opaque. Small light tan head and sparse lacing. Flavor is plain dark roasted notes and tasted slightly of coffee. Rather thin feel and an odd slightly sour biterness at the end. Just so-so

Cheers to the Boise crew for the growler! Sadly, I didn’t find this very good. Beautiful red-brown colour I liked. The aroma and flavour matched heavy malt with equally burly vanilla. I never dig strong vanilla notes. Hints of diacetyl do nothing to help what I find to be a nasty clash of strong malt notes and bludgeoning cask overtones.
