January 2009 Beer of the Month Club
Overall Impression: It's a slightly citrusy Blonde beer, it's fine if that's your thing, but it ain't mine. For it's style its solid I guess, hence the score (which was pretty generous). Anyway, not really my kind of beer, but I certainly finished the bottle.

Bottle at the charlotte airport. Looks like pale lager. Fairly refreshing aroma. Good tingly carbonation, as with most all carolina beers I’ve tasted. Hoppy but not too hoppy. Acceptable bitterness for a lager lover. Leaves a mild bitterness on the back of the throat. More acceptable to me compared to most other APA, its lower on the hop bitterness scale.

Bottle is labeled irish style red ale. Not really red in the glass, heheheh. More like a clear brownish yellow. Smell is somewhat like cheap mild whisky. Taste comes across as mild whisky with a leathery background. Not bad, decent tingly carbonation. Finish is OK. Cant get over that whisky attribute this stuff has.

Smells like real pumkin pie! Slightly darker than yer typical pale lager, more orangish. Sweet but not overly sweet. Tastes like pumpkin with beer. This pumpkin taste is more like pumpkins compared to all the other pumpkin beers I’ve tasted. Good tingly carbonation. Not bad, considering I don’t like pumpkin beers. An easy beer to like. Other pumpkin brewers should check out this recipe. Does the word pumpkin, good justice. Slight off bitter linger but this beer is overall enjoyable and I liked the experience.

From a bottle at the Charlotte airport. Good looking black pour with a little tan creamy head which fades insantly. Sweet almond aroma is a tad off. Volatile at times. Wierd almond nutty flavor reminds me breifly of amaretto. Stouty fer sure but that almond flavor is overiding and hides the godd stoutiness that’s in there. OK for a one timer but will not buy again. Finish is again overiding imitation somewhat almonds.

Bottle at the Charlotte airtport. Very nice strwberry aroma, I was expecting something artificial but it is not. Pale yellow like any pale lager. Good tingly palate. Flavor is also not artificial as I was expecting. Not bitter at all. Friendly finish, one of the better fruit beers I’ve tasted. Good session beer for a fruity. Pleasantly surprized!

On tap at the Charlotte airport. Creamy tan head. Nice roasty aroma. Black as coal, attractive nifty look about it. Dirty water roasty flavors. Friendly finish. Liked this one.

Thanx Wayne.. simple .. not much to it .... orange tinged light amber with an off white head that shrinks as low as it can go ....light citrus aroma along with some yeast that has a sour quality to it ....light refreshing body yet watery .... flavor is similar to aroma but even more sour..... easy to drink though until the finish finishes ..... it could be worse i suppose

Thanks to rogueone for the bottle (by way of ucusty). The beer pours nearly black with a medium brown head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Lots of almond in the nose along with a bit of hazelnut and coffee. Medium-bodied with flavors of almond, toasted malt and cocoa. The finish is roasty and nutty with notes of almond and chocolate, and a mild amaretto coffee aftertaste. Overall the beer tastes good and would be top shelf if it had some more body.
