One of Silke’s fifty. Pale gold with a frothy to foamy white head. Stale grains and weird off-notes overlay a mild, banana aroma. Smells like half traditional German Weizen and half Budweiser. Taste isn’t a lot better, mildly bitter, grainy, slightly stale. Body is light to medium with a big dose of water at the end. Nothing interesting here.

One of Silke’s fifty. Golden with a frothy, white head. Aroma a mix of apples, grass, metals and pepper. Taste is bitter with a touch of apple fruitiness. Body to the full side of medium, moderate carbonation, quite dry at the finish, and rather the opposite of refreshing. Interesting.

One of Silke’s fifty. Gold with a fleeting, foamy head amidst intense carbonation. Dank, yeasty aroma. Bananas and cardboard with hints of clove. Taste is mildly dough-like sweet with a light, grainy bitterness at the end. Medium bodied, the carbonation looks more intensive than it feels. Drinkable.

One of Silke’s fifty. Amber with a fleeting, foamy crown. Rich aroma full of oak and vanilla, and noticeably vinous. Mildly bitter with an increasing sourness at the end. No mention of Brett but it feels like it’s there. Pleasant, slightly warming, but a bit of a letdown after the heady whiffs of oak and red wine. Medium bodied, mildish carbonation. Not bad.

One of Silke’s fifty. Dirty light brown with a foamy head. Lots of spice up front—mostly cloves. After some time in the glass a toffee, burnt candy sort of thing takes over. Grows ever more dank. Taste is mildly bittersweet with a mild tartness at the end that, if we’re charitable, can be called black currant or even black berries. Medium bodied, slightly watery palate. Doesn’t quite come together. Drinkable.

One of Silke’s 50 beers. Deep gold with a frothy, white head that fades away. Banana and toffee aroma. A touch floral. Recurring hints of smoked bacon—unusual for such something so „hell“. Taste is bittersweet up front, mildly bitter at the back, again with faint hints of smoke. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. An interesting one.

Bottle from the Frau. Gold with a frothy, white head. Grassy, herbal aroma. Taste is bitter with peppery hops at the end. Medium bodied, nice chewiness, yet still refreshing. Not bad.

Pale gold. Frothy white head. Floral aroma mixed with a subdued amount of the adjunct-like aromas that do often plague this class. Taste is nice: modestly bitter, clean, a touch citric. Very light feel, refreshing, yet a decidedly non-watery texture. Good for the style.
