About
Founded in 1650 by Heinrich de Lapière, the Autenried Schlossbrauerei (castle brewery) was owned by the nobility until 1912. The family tradition begins in 1912 when Alois Rudolph bought the brewery. In 1964 Alois Rudolph handed over the business to his nephew Leonhard Feuchtmayr. Rudolf Feuchtmayr has been running the Autenried Schlossbrauerei since 1993. With their son Peter Feuchtmayr, the family brewing tradition continues into the youngest generation to this day.

Clear medium amber colour, tall frothy white to off-white head, good retention, light lacing. Aroma malts, grain, bit caramel, fruity touch. Taste light heavy sweet and slightly bitter, malty, sugary, spicy notes. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, fruity touch, hint of caramel; medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, decent Märzen.

Bottle, 7.7%. Good brown sugar aroma with dried fruit notes. Clear dark brown colour. Good stable light brown head. The flavour starts off nicely sweet. Actually more than a little sweet - lots of brown sugar and dark maltose. Not a lot of bitterness to balance, and the 7.7% is does not even do much to balance the sweetness either. Good creamy flavour in the finish, almost like lactose, but better. Liquid candy, but I love liquid candy.

Bottle from MichaelAwesome - thank you! Pours clear copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel, with notes of yeast. Sweetish flavour of malt and caramel, with bitter notes of alcohol and touches of nuts and hints of fruit. Sweetish aftertaste. Quite sweet and alco-bitter but rather decent.

Bottle, 7.2%. Good fruity and vinous aroma. Almost clear dark brown colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is sweet and malty, has some brown sugar. A sourish hint balances off the sweetness. Not as sweet as other examples of the style, but still sweet and quite good. Actually well-balanced.

Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, with notes of banana and grain, and estery and hoppy touches. Estery and caramellish afteraste with some citric hints. Okay but not top notch.

Many thanks to kevnic2008 for this bottle! Smooth and fresh grainy beginning. Nice fresh fruity sweetish lemonade, the beer is malty and round. Nice slightly bitter with a nice balance between the lemonade and the dark beer. Very nice and tasty Radler!

500ml bottle. Clear chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, dark sulphureous head. Sweet-ish malty aroma, hints of malt lozenge, a touch of caramel and toffee, mildly grassy hoppy overtones. Taste is malty, dark malty, minimally roasty, hints of malt lozenge, a touch of burnt caramel, bitter hoppy overtones; minimally warming alcohol in the finish. Slightly unbalanced: burnt caramel and hop bitterness combine for an overdosed, slightly unpleasant off-flavour.
