330 ml bottle from Drink Shop. Pours hazy copper with a solid head. Head stays well. Aroma has some fresh citrus at first, later also some bread/malt is detectable together with a note of alcohol. Everything is not great though - some wastewater comes through too. Taste is quite simple - some melon, not too sweet fruits. Decent bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied beer with a strong malt character, something sour also at the end, adding to the taste. Bitterness could be comparable with some of the lesser IPA’s - but this one is more sour, almost like a traditional home-brew. Hop aromas could be stronger. OK beer but nothing spectacular.

330 ml bottle from Drink Shop. Pours pitch black with average brownish head. Aroma is quite smoky, also strong roasted malts, black bread crumbs. First sip blows me away! Roast, smoke, nice carbonisation. Intense, but not too heavy. A rather light body for a porter. Burnt black bread, dark cocoa chocolate, coffee. Aftertaste dries your tongue, smoky, robust, nice. Some peanut flavours at the end. Good attempt, especially for Christmas - now I know what I am going to get for my Christmas table to pair with all of those heavy meat dishes.

330 ml bottle from Drink Shop. Hazy, dark brown pour with a rich and almost brown top. Does have some nice hop freshness in the nose - but mainly it does smell like a kvass. Taste is even more like kvass - there is black bread, mixed with kvass extract. Liquid bread, just as the label says. First some black rye bread crumbs, turning into warm, wet and sweet bread soup. At the end it feels more like kvass again, something sweet in the background, fruity finish. I do like the hops that give a nice fresh character to this quite unusual brew. Not completely perfected yet but still very enjoyable rye ale.

330 ml bottle from Drink Shop. Nice foamy top that stays well, colour is somewhat dirty copper. Aroma has a lot of hop freshness, floral and blossoming with some notes of green banana. Taste is a bit bitter at first - and even more bitter after that. Grapefruit peels multiplied. Bitterness does not feel very balanced - nor very fresh - for me it’s a bit overdoing it, especially for a relatively weak body that this beer has. Something sweet in the aftertaste that feels nice. Overall, a good attempt from a completely new brewery and quite sure I am going to have this again!

Batch 004, BB 05.06.2014. Aroma: intense smoke, chocolate, malt. Pours dark brown, almost black with tan head. The small head stays for a long time. Taste follows the aroma: smoke, chocolate, malt, light sweetness. The alcohol is really well hidden. Finish is nice long bitter. Overall: well it is what it says - a smoky porter; not the best porter, not the best smoke beer, but just a really good mix of both. Original rating: 7:4:7:4:15=3.7 Vertical tasting 11.12.2015. batch 4, bb 05.06.2014, about 2 years old. Aroma is nice bacon smoke with tpuch of alcohol. Flavor is thinner, less bitter, slightly sour, more boring. Overall: ok, but when it was fresh, it was a lot better. batch 58, bb 23.02. 2015. Aroma is sweeter than 004, less bacon, rounder. Flavor is also sweeter and more bitter, finish has more bitter hops, body is fuller. Better than batch 4, but i miss the bacon in the aroma. Batch 30, bb 31.10.2014. Aroma is less intense than 4 and 58, less bacon, but smoke is there. Flavor is sweet and smoky, less bitter than 58. Pouring yeast in helps, otherwise it was a bit thin. Good, but still miss the bacony aroma and it’s a bit thin even with yeast. Although it is the best looking one with very nice head Batch 126, bb 03.12.2015. Rather harsh, worse than the previously tried versions. Feels older, more watery, although it’s the freshest. Maybe a bad batch. Batch 110, bb 20.10.2015. Aroma is more chocolate, sweeter, less smokey, some puke. Flavor is again harsh sweet, watery, but also somewhat messy. This is even worse than 126. Batch 58 and 30 were the best ones, although 004 had really lovely bacon aroma that none of the others have. Batch variation seems to be pretty big and there seems to be some quality issues with newer batches, hence score lowered.

Batch 001, 330ml bottle. Pours dull golden with medium white head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is not very strong citrus, salt, hints of fruits. Taste is simcoe hops, caramel, citrus, fruity. It has nice bitter finish, which lingers for some time. Medium-soft carbonation. Overall: really pleasent beer. Update 27.06.2015. Tried a bottle from the same batch (001, BB 02.05.2014). Wow this is still very drinkable for a beer that is more than year over BB. A couple of months back we tried Kuldne Eil, which was from the first batch and it was totally gone off, but this is clearly not a case with this beer. I thought that maybe my initial rating was overrate, but considering how well the bottle has held up, I am inclined to keep it.

Batch 003, 330ml bottle. Appearance: hazy amber with nice white head. The head stays for a long time. Aroma: fruity, strawberries, very faint caramel. Taste is fruity, sour, some caramel in the background and noticeable bitterness. Finish is bitter and sour, it lasts for some time. Soft carbonation. Overall: less caramel than expected and more fruity. Still, not a bad beer to drink.

Batch 002, 330 ml bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with small tan head. The head dissapears quickly. Intense aroma of rye, which reminds aroma of kvass. There is also noticeable sweetness and faint promise of alcohol in the smell. Taste reminds also kvass, of course rye is there, but also some sourness and hints of sweetness. Bitterness gets more and more intense in the finish. Nice long finish. Soft carbonation. Overall: good beer. I really like the aroma of this one.
