33cl Bottle from Mitra Beukenweg. Almost clear deep amber colour, beige head. Aroma of star anise, spicy yeast, cinnamon, amber malts, reminds me of St.Feuillien or La Gauloise beers, very spicy and sweet. Flavour is very spicy and sweet as well, less ‘funky’ but more sweet, amber malts, star anise, almost no smoke detected. Cloying and over-spiced. Not very good.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Black with no head. Roasted malts aroma with lots of spices. Boozy and smooth and not very stout-like anymore because of the dominant Beerenburger. Still like it though.

Kuit: niet uit te spreken door Kiwi’s,....... néé Bakfiets vast ook niet.... Wat een zinloze opmerking op het etiket... schenkt licht gouden met volle witte kraag, aroma is sterk kruidig, gagel-achtig, lichte rookmout (ham/bacon), hop, graan en tarwe. Smaken zijn redelijk zoet, matig tot redelijk bitter, erg kruidig, hop, veel smaak, licht zuurtje, droog, iets metalige in de afdronk, lichte citrus, wat abrikoos, gist, lichte rookmout, matige body,overall best wel ok.

Bottle at home, dark orange beer, small head. Aroma is malt, citrus, perfume, Taste is the same, sweet, small bitterness, ok easy drinkable.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij Culemborg. Dark brown with a thin white head and lots of floaties/sediment. Roasted malts aroma with licorice and some leather and earthen notes. Bit boozy and rough around the edges but tasty enough.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Hazy copper color, short frothy head. Aroma of quite some wood notes, spicy as well as in spicy wood, licorice root, some toffee. Spicy in taste as well, its like wet wood or something with a licorice like touch. Interesting at first, but in time the spicyness completely takes over. A bit too much actually.

Bottle @ home. Dark amber to brown colour with a small off-white head. Smells smokey, wood, sweet, malty, spices. Tastes smokey, peat, sweet, loads of spices and quite a bit of tea (lapsang perhaps). I like smokyness, I like a bit of peatyness, but the combination kills it a bit for me. Medium body, soft carbo.

9e Noordelijk Speciaalbieren Festival, Groningen, 2017, wazig amber let lichte volle kaki kraag. aroma van mout, gerookte mout, ham, kaneel, steranijs, iets té. smaken van vrij veel kaneel, veel steranijs, natte aardse bladeren, zoet, toffee, caramel, gist, iets té overdreven kruidig aan alle kanten, niet echt gebalanceerd. matige body, ok co2.

schenkt licht bruin, helder met lichte kraag. aroma van caramel, toffee, lichte weeïge mout, bruine suiker. Smaken zijn glad, zacht en romig, caramel, rozijn, bruine suiker, toffee, licht van texztuur, maar daardoor niet overdreven in zoetigheid, zwak tot matig bitter, iets walnoot, lichte banaan, licht aards, matige body, zachte co2, ik ben nooit zo'n fan van de dubbel geweest maar deze is prima.
