Description
Innovative, promising and high-quality microbrewery. This are the significant words that describe our young team of Green Gold Brewing from Savinja Valley in the heart of Slovenia. And if you ask us about our distinctive characteristic, we would definitely say that there is something about the place where we live, breath and work. Why so? Our hometown is one of the most significant Slovenian (and also European) hop regions – therefore we had no choice but to brew the best beer.

Just like every successful story, ours started in the garage of today’s Green Gold Brewing. From the very beginning, owner Luka Rojnik strives for beer not only to be a drink but a surplus with amazing superpowers. In our beers, the Slovenian tradition and years of brewing experiences are intertwined by Luka’s accumulation of different acknowl- edges throughout the world.

In the story of Green Gold Brewing, Slovene hop varieties Aurora, Styrian Dragon, Celeia, Bobek, Styrian Wolf and others are playing the main roles. They are so important to us that you will find them in every can, beer tap or barrel that you choose, whether it’s a Pale Ale, IPA, Hoppy Lager or something else.

Tap at Pivo & Burger Fest, Ljubljana. Slightly hazy amber-golden, large and lasting creamy offwhite head. Just hints of sweet fruitiness, peach mostly. Solid herbal bitterness, very dry with lasting herbal aftertaste. Light bodied. A bit too sharp with bitterness for my liking.

0,33 l can. Pours almost clear golden with a finger of soapy, medium lasting just off white head. Plenty of yeast floating around. Nose is surprisingly mild, pineapple, citrus, gentle malt nose, mild soap. Taste is quite heavy sweet, medium bitter. Flavor is soap, bubble gum, caramel malt. Quite terrible. Body is medium, slick mouthfeel and average carbonation. Finish is medium long, bitter sweet bubblegum.

0,33 l can. Pours slightly hazy straw yellow with small, soapy, quickly dissipating head. Leaves nice lacing. Aroma is very mild in general, hay, grass. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Body is watery, carbonation prickly, slick mouthfeel. Finish is short, basically just a kick of bitterness and that's it. Despite low ABV one would expect at least some malt base... High carbonation makes it borderline pleasant to drink

0,33 l can. Pours almost clear golden with small, quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma is pungent hop driven, pine, citrus, some mango, slightly grassy. Taste is medium sweet and heavy bitter. Body is rather thin, carbonation average, slick mouthfeel. Finish is long, hop driven and increasingly bitter. Heavy on hop, but it really lacks in body department, malt base is nowhere to be found. Drinkable with no off tastes, but poorly balanced.

On tap at Pivnica Krigl Slovenske Konjice, Slovenia. Unclear golden coloured, medium sized white head, mild citrusy nose. Sweetish malty, biscuity, light citrusy and herbal with short bitterish finish. Not so fresh I suppose.

On tap at William's pub, Ljubljana. Shared with lovely Anja. Black. Minimal head. Oily. Lots of barrel in aroma, rum present. Spices, alcohol, fruity notes. Thick, sticky. Full body. Alcohol. Roasty notes along with barrel. Dry finish. Not spectacular.
