Description
Innovative, promising and high-quality microbrewery. This are the significant words that describe our young team of Green Gold Brewing from Savinja Valley in the heart of Slovenia. And if you ask us about our distinctive characteristic, we would definitely say that there is something about the place where we live, breath and work. Why so? Our hometown is one of the most significant Slovenian (and also European) hop regions – therefore we had no choice but to brew the best beer.

Just like every successful story, ours started in the garage of today’s Green Gold Brewing. From the very beginning, owner Luka Rojnik strives for beer not only to be a drink but a surplus with amazing superpowers. In our beers, the Slovenian tradition and years of brewing experiences are intertwined by Luka’s accumulation of different acknowl- edges throughout the world.

In the story of Green Gold Brewing, Slovene hop varieties Aurora, Styrian Dragon, Celeia, Bobek, Styrian Wolf and others are playing the main roles. They are so important to us that you will find them in every can, beer tap or barrel that you choose, whether it’s a Pale Ale, IPA, Hoppy Lager or something else.

On tap at Lajbah, pours a cloudy bright yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, biscuity malt, and light earthiness. Flavour is authentically northeastern, with piney and earthy hops, and dry biscuity malt. Piney and creamy on the palate, with a dry crisp finish. Excellent.

On tap at Lajbah, pours a cloudy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with diacetyl, with biscuity malt and subdued citrus hops. Flavour is a butter bomb, totally laced with diacetyl. There's some citrus hops buried in there and the palate is dry, but I can't overlook the diacetyl. Bad.

Dayum these Slovenes been brewing lots a beer. This smells loke watery coffee with a rose muddled into it. Has no head and black porter typical body. Flavour is intense chocolate syrup and coffee with no finesse and a sweet finish. Just quaff it down. Abv is kind of subtle though, but there is a liqueur aspect to this. Maybe would work in shots during dessert.

Fresh orange arom juiced on a spring Ljubljana sunday morning by a charming 22 year old girl. Blonde hair, her blouse fluttering in the warm wind, you lose your concentration for a second and you glare at her hands moving the glass towards you. It has a bit of foam but not significant and the orange liquid is clear trending toward copper. Flavour is sharp hops, slightly soured sauerkraut and sugar along with a shot of that freshly squeezed orange juice. You admire her awkward smile, unkempt manner, and catch a glimpse of her bra strap. Suddenly your wife stabs you in the side, her child from another marriage erupts in a gutteral scream, and you are back at the sunday market. Wherever you went, no one will know.

On tap at Sir William's Pub's 20th anniversary. Pours thick dark brown, almost perfectly black without any real head. Intense chocolate aroma, pleasant milk and dark chocolate notes with some roasted coffee quite in the back. Taste starts sweeter with chocolate, finishing with gentle bitterness that's more pronounced in the aftertaste. Silky texture. The only deal is the alcohol is not at all hidden and it gets quite boozy and sharp - perhaps a bit over the top. But on the other hand, it will be interesting to see how this one develops after being barrel aged for about 10 months.

On tap at Sir Williams Pub, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Shared with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran. Almost opaque golden, small off-white head. Moderately hoppy, citrus, grapefruit and bubblegum. Bitter and very aromatic. Medium body, moderate carbonation, lasting dry finish. Very good use of American hops!

On tap at Makro Beer Fest in Maribor. Pours hazy golden, topped with thin white head. Grassy hoppy nose with gentle apples, pears and berries. Slight watermelon sweetness upfront, gentle bitterness that gets much sharper with rgassy feel. A bit watery body. Aftertaste gets much more herball-grassy hoppy sharp. Drinkable but that's all.

Pours hazy golden-orange, topped with medium white head. Pleasant fruity nose promises a lot with citruses and peach. Solid bitterness come slowly, malty backbone is gentle. Decent taste but lacks body which is very watery, also the carbonation level is almost non-existant, feels completely flat. Promises, but it doesn't really deliver.
