Can from Trader Joes. Half porter, half brown. Nice looking pour, dark clear brown with soft creamy beige head. Curtains of lacing remain. Aroma is semi-sweet chocolate first, hinting at some roast grains in the background. Smooth, slick, silky body, more chocolate in the taste, some roast grain / coffee sharp bitterness. Almost dry finish, mostly lingering bitterness.

On Tap at the Meridian BP clear light golden. Dense fine off white head. Light pale malts a bit on the sweeter side that helps keep it from being pilsish. Also the hope bite is decent for the style, and bright zesty and more of the pale ale variety then the saaz type. Again keeping it from being to much like a pale lager. (yes I know its an ale) I like

Grunt fill at Winco. Dark murky brown, creamy tan head. Aroma is initially chocolate, then some vanilla, then the rich roast grains. Taste is more of the same coupled with a smooth, silky, slightly chewy body. Finishes sweet, but not cloying. Very late evidence of the ABV.

Sample at GABF 09/26/2015, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Brownish-black pour with a medium khaki head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing. Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate in the nose. Medium body with flavors of roast malt, dark chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Above average overall.
