Clear black-mahoney body. Aroma of grapes, alcohol, malts: not very well balanced. Lightly bitter, moderately sweet flavour: bit hops: mainly malts (somewhere between cara and chocolate). Not bad, but not nice.

On tap at the Wharf. A clear, golden beer with a small, off-white head. Rather malty aroma, with a grassy, fruity and hayish addition. The flavor has a pleasant bitterness to support the biscuity malts. Some grassy and fruity flavors too. Medium body, a bit hard on carbonation I think. Bitter finish with pale malts. A decent beer, but I just don’t get the German Christmas beers, they are too ordinary, meaning it’s just like drinking a lightly souped up everyday beer. This one at least have a nice hoppyness. 111104

Bottled 500ml (BZ, BB 03/2012)
Deep amber color, small off-white head. Caramel, wood, earthy maltyness in the nose. Light to medium-bodied. Harsh, dry flavor. Caramel malts, toasted bread, rough hops. Leaving dry, oily aftertaste. This is a bit like some Finnish Mallaskoski brews.

Bottle from shop somewhere in Bamberg and it’s special Kulturla edition. Amber color with small white head. Aroma of caramel, honey, red fruits. Pines, grapefruit, caramel, honey in taste. Body is very light, which is pity. Drinkable.

Flip top bottle 330ml (BZ, BB 03/2012)
Clear golden color, small white head. Lightly grassy and diacetylic aroma, sweet malty. Light body. Buttery but not diacetylic, maloty flavor, light hayish hoppyness. Empty finish. Simple and boring, I’ve had much better beers from this brewery. And I can’t understand previous ratings for this beer.

50cl bottle. Pours golden with a nice thin lace head and nice gentle bubbles. The nose has flowers, moss, pine and general notes of being in a forest. The taste has soggy malt and a creamy floral note that goes to the end. The palate is great - medium bodied and textured with a lovely elegant falling away finish. Overall, I like this a lot - great start, beginning and end.
