This is a pretty boring beer. I’ve had plenty of beers that tasted like this, but apparently this is a "Keller"bier. The body is a fairly clear copper, with a minimal off-white head. Aroma and flavor are dominated by earthy (fall leaves) hops, with a touch of toasty malt balancing the coveted flowers. Unfortunately this pairing fails to intrigue this rater’s palate. Boring and not worth seeking out; a disappointing example of a new style for me.

Pours a dark and hazy brown. No head at all. Flavor is very bready and the hops are a presence. I can get a lot of orange peal in this brew. Very nice and a different style.

2003 (I presume) bottle. Rusty orange-golden/peach color, with some deeper amber/brown tones. Small white head. Smells of light hops, light orange fruit with a touch of spice to it. At first, it tastes like a slightly bitter, well hopped lager but then a big full, round sweetness develops and the carbonation does not stick around. I really appreciate the yeasty, full finish mixed with a sweet apricot-like flavor. Wow, creamy palate on a lager?? Impressive, I did not find any of the sharpness or extreme bitterness/tartness mentioned in some reviews. I wonder what unbunged means. I want more!

Bottle Yeasty and hoppy aroma. Nice dark amber color, low on carbonation and head. Wonderfull complex hop flavors on a solid malt base. Dry bitterhop finish and with a pleasant prickling mouthfeel.

Hazy brown. Very slight brownish head, stable. Nose is pure banana - not much else. Banana in the taste again. Some wheat, and indeed here are some cloves. Typical sourish wheat taste appears in the aftertaste. It is less distinctive than South - Bavarian Weizens. I think Franconians should stick to their own specialities. Not that is is bad.

The best thing anout this is the stoneware mug it is served in. Even so it is still a fairly decent brew. I just don''t care much for the sourness in the finish.

Very nice. Cloudy amber color and light head. Light caramel sweetness in the aroma but mainly: hops! What a nice spicy/herbal hoppy aroma. Very hoppy in the flavor as well, yet remarkably balanced. I love unfiltered pils.

Draught @ brewery + Eulenspiegel in Bamberg. Ceramic mug. Huge rocky head. Rich hoppy, yeasty aroma is so dense and appetizing. On the palate you find the freshest, most resiny hops of any beer in Franconia. Rich, balanced with earthy, caramelly malts. Not the most rustic example, but in a land of hop bomb lagers this is basically IPA. The champ.
