Description

Clear pink, medium pinkish head. Nose is malts, sweet, red candy. Taste is alike, no hops, bit malts, red syrup and candy, no fruits. In 2019, why?

The blonde one in this series of beers made by a new brewing company in Kluisbergen (hence the brand name), steinie bottle bought at Diesters Bierfestival. Snow white, thick and frothy, papery lacing, moussy head on lightly hazy, warm apricot-hued deep golden beer with lively sparkling, turning more misty with sediment. Aroma of ripe apricot, banana peel, white bread, dried apple peel, meringue, moist white pepper, raw potato juice, fresh camomile, light DMS (overcooked white cabbage). Sweetish onset, apricot, ripe pineapple and banana impressions with a light sourish edge, fizzy carbonation, minerally, yet still smooth and lean body made up of white-bready pale malt sweetishness with a very thin honeyish sweetish edge; outspoken soapy-spicy coriander seed in the end, some earthy but mild hop bitterness, floral aspects, soft and adding little character. Correct and technically okay I guess, but conceptually once again another run-of-the-mill Belgian blonde aimed at the masses. Old school ‘streekbier’ the Belgian way.

13/10/2018 - tasting glass shared with rubin77 and some friends @ Bless Bierhappening, Zottegem. Clear golden, medium white head. Nose is malts, overripe fruits, caramel. Taste is malts, bready, fruits, caramel, alcohol. Doens't feel fresh, has some quad aspects, could benefit from a lower alcohol level, bit hops, ... Not OK for a new tripel as for me.
