As Awajimai Shikomi Pilsner 3.5% so I am guessing Awaji Kome and Awaji Rice Pilsner is the same beer just labelled differently at Craft Beer Live based on the year. It seems like near the end of the night after I had the Golden Rabbit Rice Pilsner I decided to try this one. Very pale cloudy straw gold with minimal head. Light malt aroma, little to no hops but a crisp refreshing taste and decent for the low ABV.

On tap at Craft Beer Live 2016. A reddish orange pour with an earthy cracked black peppercorn aroma. Medium bodied, zesty carbonation with a nice bite that delivers sharp caramel, cotton candy and tangy fruits. A fun interesting surprise.

Tap at Craft Beer Live 2015. Cloudy red-brown. Nose of caramel, chocolate. Tangy, sweetish flavor, caramel, esters, cherries. Ok, but not moving me.

Tap at Craft Beer Live 2015. PRetty deep golden color. Sweet rice nose, fruits, estery, grains. Rich and ricy flavor, malty. Finishes rather dry. Shows off rice well.

Bottle with one of the pull-tap tops, picked up by my friend Mick. Served in my weizen glass. A slightly opaque gold with a thick fluffy white head with staying power and some lacing. Medium bodied and smooth. Spicy cloves and some metallic or burnt plastic plus a yeasty quality to the aroma. The taste is more of that plasticky burnt taste that overwhelms everything else, band-aid aftertaste. This is a drain pour - yuck. Shame it looked nice, the body was nice, the aroma had just hints of those off-flavors but the taste was bad. Something happened to this beer to mess it up, definitely production issues...

Draught at Craft Beer Live 2014. Nose of rice, sake, a bit of citrus. Hazy golden color. Slightly buttery rice flavor, light citrus, again a bit of sake notes in this. Interesting but imperfectly done.

Draught at the 2009 Hyogo Oktoberfest. Fruity, tart aroma. Dirty-looking golden color. Big butter, with banana and a bit of clove. Creamy, with a strong sour edge and cereals. Not so nice, though drinkable.

Draught at Hyogo Oktoberfest, 2008. A touch better than your best Japanese macros but not really special. Ok hops, ok malt. Not bad.
