Blue Wood Brewery Ume Barleywine 9% A new brewery down in Wakayama. Very rich malty plum sweetness with a dry herbal hop quality. This a solid barleywine with rich malts and deep stone fruit/fig/plum flavor. Good stuff.

Tap at Craft Beer Live 2019. Hazy golden orange. Nose is sansho and fruit. Flavor fruity pale ale like, sansho spice coming through a bit strong but not completely overdone. The base beer is not distinctive but it has been handled quite well.

Tap at Craft Beer Live 2019. Cloudy dark gold. Nose is plum, clove, wheat. Flavor has a decent amount of tart plums coinciding with a decent enough weizen character. Nicely tart finish works. Best of the three we tried.

Tap at Craft Beer Live 2019. Hazy dark gold. Fruity nose with some ume plums. Sweet and a bit plain, honey, none of the usual tartness you association with ume. Almost flavor and watery. Needs work.
