Bottle. Nose is chocolate, orange, lots of citrus. Black with a tall off-white head. a bit roasted, with caramel, dark chocolate, a touch of coffee, citrus, resinous hops. Lots going on here. It's complex but not exactly harmonious. Bitter finish Fun stuff. Tasty but not perfect.

slight hazy amber golden color. Lots of cognac an oak character with some Belgian funk. Full body malty, the barrel is very rounded. Excellent character. Full bodied. Nice

inky purple color. Tons of pepper, blueberries, chocolate cookies, musty, lots of funky yeast character. Tart, oaky and funky. Very nice

Another in the really very good Shiga akihen beers at a reasonable price I think this was about 500¥ Shiga Kogen Take me Skiing IPA 6.5% Matte gold which in some lights looked kind of dull and listless but had an impressively thick head of foam and left generous lacing behind. The aroma is very fragrant, midway between juicy and west coast with notes of orange julep, mango and dankness. Full bodied with a semi-slick mouthfeel. It has a bit of heat to it and the taste is quite bitter, closer to your classic west coast ipa. As usual a solid beer from Shiga Kogen.

Bottle thanks to TimE. Pours a somewhat murky reddish copper hue with a large almost beige white head. A big sour nose, fruit, woody. Very vinous. The flavor is a very dry woody base, big cognac, tannins, sweet fruit pushes in. The yeast profile is very much Belgian and almost lambic like. Cognac dominates. Very nice. Dry.

Shiga Kogen India Miyama Lager 6% An opaque gold with a dense white head of foam and a mild aroma (served too cold?). The beer is medium to full bodied with a herbal lightly spicy green hop bouquet. It’s pretty bitter with a crisp finish.
