Tap at Takumiya. Tropical fruit hops, biscuity malt, citrus in the nose. Glowing orange with a low head. Sweet, strong, hoppy. Hugely fruity, with melon, peaches, mango, orange. Slightly dank too. A bit too sweet, heavy, and strong for my liking, but interesting.

First up is a collaboration between Swan Lake and Shiga Kogen. Swan lake did a companion beer called 2t/t or something like that, I believe these were done to celebrate Swan Lake’s 25th Anniversary. Shiga Kogen Ride A White Swan また1t IPA 8.5% This double IPA is a lovely gold with a foamy off-white foam and a fruity hop bouquet. It has a nice full body with sweetness and fruits up front then big woodsy herbal bitterness in the finish. As usual solid stuff from Shiga Kogen.

Bottle. Funky, bretty nose, amber malts, chocolate, coffee, vinegar, vanilla from the oak. Very smooth and well put together.

Shiga Kogen x Swan Lake Yamabushi Overslept BA Amber Ale Lovely ruddy brown with tan foam and a slightly tart Oud bruin aroma. Nice earthy and fruity tangy aroma and flavor. This beer is super smooth and enjoyable.

750 ml bottle-conditioned version. Bottled December, 2020 and stored at room temperature for 19 months since then. Pours a surprisingly hazy gold with a huge, airy head. Awesome aroma is rich and estery with peaches, pears, apple, apricots, honey, and wonderfully spicy yeast. Rich and full-flavored. Super fruity, both citrus and tropical notes in there but mainly stone fruit. Peppery, mildly bitter finish from both yeast and hops. A wonderful super saison in the traditional style, as good I've had as any from Belgium or the US.

I hadn’t had a beer from Tamamura Honten in awhile so picked up this reasonably priced one: Shiga Kogen Spelt Saison 6.5% Crystal clear gold with an eggshell white foam that vanished quickly. Eggy with a sharp sweet tart/catpiss element. I kind of feel this is a touch Brett like. Medium bodied, it has a dry finish with a bit of peppery earthy notes I assume are from the spelt. Quite flavorful and interesting brew, if you like saison you’ll most likely enjoy this one.

Cloudy golden with a white head. Bright fruits and snappy spice profile with some yeast notes. A bit tart. Medium bodied. Effervescent. Full of flavor and that flavor is good.

Shiga Kogen Mou Itton IPA 9.5% Warm golden orange with dense off-white foam and big fruity aroma with a bit of a bitter hop edge. Very full bodied with some heat. Lots of hops, big slightly boozy but loads of flavor. Definitely imperial or triple IPA territory.
