Description
The Diaoulig (imps) brewery was founded in 1997 in Saint-Pôtan (Cotes d'Armor) by Jean-Michel Jézégou and Bruno Desson.

The meeting of the brewers and the cidermaker (Jehan Lefèvre created the cider house in 1996) is sealed around a few glasses of beer and cider. The discussions between the three men will lead to the association and the relocation of the brewery to the premises of the cider house in 2004. Since that date, the Diaoulig beers have been concocted at the Ferme des Landes.

Dark brown color. Sourish aroma, woody, caramel, sour fruits, bread. Good body strength; caramel flavor, with a good woody tartness, vinous; solid. Excellent sour Ale, probably unwanted, but lucky.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a hazy reddish brown with an off-white head. Tart, woody smoked aroma. Lightly watery with tart woody accents, low in carbonation with a hint of smoke. It’s probably not intentional but somehow it reminds me of a Flemish Red and it’s quite interesting. An infection that ended well I presume. 190209

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a diminished white head. Light barnyard to citric aroma, slight barnyard like initial impression. Citric and acidic flavoured, yet also with a dominant remaining sugarish base flavour. Light caramelish to a distinct citric flavoured and light brett-ish brew. Certainly has some nice elements.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, amber golden with an off-white head. Tart, sulphurous aroma. Medium body with sourish AND smoked accents - distinctly smoked actually - what an odd combination. No real bitterness and ends fairly thin. A strange brew indeed. 291206
