Two Seidla at the brewery, the first cask, the second keg. Lovely brown-orange, clear, with an airy, rocky head (cask). Malty, grainy nose, earthy hops, light fruit, orange and pear. Touch of roast in the flavor, rich malt but not sweet, bready. Peppery, earthy finish with medium to strong bitterness, more than usual for the style for sure. Awesome body from cask. slightly more expressive nose form keg. Full but not heavy. A great beer, but sure, but somehow did not live up to my very high expectations. I liked the pils better, and Knoblach’s dunkel yesterday too. Still, one of the best.

Keg at the brewery. Brilliant gold, with a tall, rocky head. Effervescent bubbles. Lovely biscuity malt nose, spicy, lemony hops. Lightly sweet flavor, lemony, herbal hops, bread / crackers. Great peppery, bitter finish. Crisp and cracking. This outshone the dunkel today. Just so well made. Also the 32 degree hear probably helped.

Euro-Fläschla: Clear, golden with a greenish sheen, loose medium-sized, slowly collapsing, white head; "rural" grainy nose with a mineralic touch, dominated by aromas of hay or freshly mowed grass; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, quite soft; lingering hayish and mineralic finish with a certain - again - rural touch. Nice, archetypal FRANCONIAN Bier...
