Description
Heist opened its doors in 2012, as Charlotte’s only Craft Brewpub. Originally brewing on a 10HL German brewhouse, we have opened a 30 barrel production facility. Heist focuses on small batch beer ranging from traditional Belgian Table Beers, Saisons, to IPA's and Double IPA’s, to Porters and Imperial Stouts. Above all, Heist is an experience. Enjoy!

7.4
Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5

Location: Draft at the brewpub, 1/14/15

Aroma: The nose is citrus/tropical hops, some pine, caramel, and a bit of earth
Appearance: Pours a murky amber color with a decent beige head and some mid-heavy lace
Flavor: It has a lightly sweet flavor, much like the nose component-wise, and rather bitter
Palate: This one has a medium-full body, with an average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I liked this DIPA enough to drink a few of them, but at the same time, it isn't a top of style example. The 8.1% is pretty well hidden considering. This is a solid beer for sure.

7.4
Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5

Location: Draft at the brewery, 1/4/15

Aroma:Light chocolate nose, with roast, a good amount of yeast/spice, smokey and earthy notes
Appearance: A dark brown color with a decent amount of light brown head and average lace
Flavor: Tastes of chocolate malt sweetness, with some Belgian yeast/spice, and a mild bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, though it feels lighter for the style, with a fairly smooth feel
Overall Impression: I'm not sure this is a hybrid style as much as a solid Belgian style stout, but it works pretty nicely. I like what they did here.

7.3
Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7

Location: Draft at the brewpub, 1/14/15

Aroma: The nose is full of winter spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.), with some yeast/spice
Appearance: This beer pours an amber color with a small beige head and average lace
Flavor: This one has an interesting flavor mix between the winter spice and Belgian yeast
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, with a decent mouthfeel, and well-hidden heat
Overall Impression: I thought this was a really solid winter spice brew. The spices work nicely with the rest of the combination. Had I not known, I would have guessed a much lower ABV. Nice winter style beer. It may be the best Game of Thrones themed beer I have had including all the Ommegang ones.

6.6
Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5

Location: Draft at the brewpub, 1/14/15

Aroma: The nose is wheat and yeast, lots of spice, some wheat notes, and fruit
Appearance: The color is dark orange-amber, slightly cloudy, with a small head, and good lace
Flavor: Tastes along the same lines, a good amount of spice, yeast, and some earthy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a lively carbonation, and an alright mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Thought this was kind of a hybrid between a Saison and a Belgian White. It has a distinctive wheat flavor that I didn't actually expect. Not bad at all, but it may have been my least favorite of the night.

7.6
Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5

Location: Draft at the brewpub, 1/14/15

Aroma: The nose is clean and hoppy, citrus/grapefruit, some pine, and some grass
Appearance: It pours a murky orange-amber color with a small off-white head
Flavor: The flavor is along the same lines, lightly sweet, with a pretty strong bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a pretty decent feel, and a fairly dry finish
Overall Impression: I enjoyed this one. Makes for a really solid APA, and hits the mark for what I was looking for. I could drink a good amount of this beer, and most likely will on future visits if it remains on draft.

Shaker pint draft at the brewpub in Charlotte, North Carolina. The pour is an opaque black brown with not much of a khaki head. The aroma is caramel nutty malt with grass. The taste is toffee, roast coffee and a bit of milkiness sweetness. The palate is light to medium bodied with low carbonation and an earth roast finish. Nice mild, tons of body for the lower ABV.
