Dark reddish nut brown color, small off-white head. Strange skunky hoppy aroma with very light roasty and papery notes. A bit sourish flavor, color malts, a bit roastyness and skunky hoppy flavors. Poor performance from Nokian Panimo. Pate in the name of beer (and in the label) is Pate Mustajärvi, well-known rock singer, who has lately been known about his drinking problems ...

Bottled. Very dark brown, rich head. Vague caramel aroma with a whiff of smoke. Sweet with fairly clean rounded mouthfeel and light body. Light roasty and caramelly, nutty with some light molasses. Low bitterness.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt, and lighter notes of soy sauce, caramel, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and chocolate, as well as light notes of straw, leading to a dry roasted finish.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of tbone_. Clear, dark brown with a reddish hue and a creamy, beige head leaving a neat lacework. Sweetish aroma of caramel and roasted malt. Rather full body with plenty of roasted malt and burned caramel and even some fruit. The finish is dry. Quite interesting. 270707

Biggish white head. Brownish red body. Light sweetish caramelly aroma with traces of alcohol. Sweetish flour and caramel taste, somewhat roasty, with watery, buttery notes. (How something can be both watery and buttery at the same time is a bit of mystery, but somehow this beer manages.) Dry caramelly aftertaste. Roasty taste lingers. Not that much taste. A bit boring, but OK. (0.33l bottle.)

Medium offwhite head quickly shrinks into thin ring. Hazy red-brown body. Sweet earthy caramel aroma with notes of peas and meat. Unusual. Sweetish spicy caramel and earth taste with bready notes. Dry, grassy hop aftertaste. Full, yeasty mouthfeel. Nice. (0.33l bottle.)

[bottled] Red-ish brown, unclear colour. Small but dense head. Sweet, malty aroma with some alcohol fumes. Fizzy mouthfeel. Sweet and malty with too much alcohol and some faint notes of toffee.

33cl bottle from Alko Oy, Vantaa, Finland. slightly dull amber colour with a diminishing off-white head; malty aroma with obvious alcohol; thin and oily, with alcohol very evident. Not my idea of an Oktoberfest style.

330ml bottle at home. Unfiltered. Dense, off-white head over an unclear, dark amber body. Malty-sweet aroma. Dark malty taste with spicy and toasty moments. Hoppy hints towards the end. Alright, but it does not quite deliver as a bock. An xtra score for the flying witch (thanks to Finn H. for bringing a bottle back from Finland)(04.05.2007).

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Black with firm beige head. Licorice aroma. Dry with notes of aniseed and tar. Medium bodied, very roasty, clean mouthfeel. Some toffee before a short salty finish. Solid winter lager!
