THT August @ Schier. Direct uit de fles. Zoete mout, koriander en kruidnagel, zacht caramel zoetje, beetje honingachtig. Zoet en licht kruidig, tenminste niet zo smerig zoet als Leffe. Best prima dit.

Bottle. Pours ink black, little head. Aroma is smokey, bacon, dark malts, some chocolate. Big body. Flavour is malty, lots of smoke, bacon and peat. Some coffee and chocolate, but the smoke is dominant. Medium bitterness. Finishes bittersweet, smoke. Quite nice, could use a bit more depth and complexity. But good and drinkable.

Bottle from a gift box - many thanks to mom & dad for bringing it & to the brewer for gifting it! Pours clear golden with a quickly thinning, frothy, white head. Aroma of banana, ripe apple, yeast, bread, honey, grain. Taste has sweet honey, banana, apple & (white) bready maltiness, some bitter peppery spices leading to a dryish, yeasty, fruity finish with a glow of jenever alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Classic Tripel almost in the Belgian sense; cleanly made but not surprising.

Aroma of banana peel, freshly cut ripe apple, honey, flowers, bread dough, moist pepper, vague coriander. Taste has sweetish banana, apple & pineapple, supported by honey malt, sour accent of citrus & wheat in the back, bitter spices going into the dryish, floral hoppy finish, subtle phenols releasing but sweet esters have the final say. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Basic Saison profile is there but it misses some 'wildness'.

(Draught at De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht, 27 Feb 2020) Golden amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, slightly spicy nose with apricots, crisp-bread, hay and flowers. Fruity, slightly spicy taste with notes of bread, apricots, hay and a mild floral bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and refreshing. Quite nice.

Aroma of pineapple, passionfruit, mandarin, spruce, yellow grapefruit, mango. Taste has sweetish pineapple & pear, revolving around a bitter core of pine, yellow grapefruit & bittersweet mango, supported by biscuity-honeyish maltiness. Ends dry piney hoppy, tad resinous even, with lingering aromatic pineapple. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Not a full-fledged modern IPA, but bitter & aromatic enough.

Bottle shared at anti-carnavalstasting. Dark brown to black color, reddish glare coming through, average to medium sized white to off-white head. Smell and taste malts, smoke, smoked ham. Hmm ok beer, not a fan.
