Le Scharrach / Lauth
Brewpub in Scharrachbergheim-Irmstett, Grand Est, France 🇫🇷
Established in 1997
Description
The origin of this brewery was a ballroom founded in 1948 by the Lauth family who made the establishment a must-see for beer lovers. They will be the first to offer draft beers made directly from a village micro-brewery.
Scharrach's first beer flowed in June 1997. It was a very distinctive blonde, with lots of body and a cheerful bitterness. Only one beer was originally planned. But it was so popular that the range grew...
In 2014 brewing was suspended and the brewery closed. After two years a group of investors acquired the premises but due to disagreements it lasted till 2020 before Serge Comtesse became the sole proprietor of the restaurant and the brewery. Serge Comtesse and master brewer Philipe Bildstein aim to bring the brewery to a new life.

Dark color; creamy head. Tha aroma mixes some roasted malt with a light sourness. The flavor is not astonishing, nevertheless features some malt, roasted malt, light coffee, caramel and a correct body strength; at the end it’s a bit dryer. A reasonable Stout.

Cloudy blond color. Quite nice aroma: malt, cereals, sweet nuts, brown sugar. Quite good, with some malt, dry and slightly sour. At the end it’s slightly honeyish.
