Taster at the COS location. Pours black, with a fair, foamy, tan head. The nose is black bread, pumpernickel, charcoal, and mild hay and resin. Sweet and vaguely malty, with a light, acrid bitterness. Light to medium body, slick, and sharp. Weak, but not bad.

Tap at the brewery. Deep opaque black body. Thick, rusty, beige head. Deep, oily black malt tones. Heavy on the roast malt for sure. Not unlike Albert le coq, in that there are deep fruit tones under the malts. Doesn’t really lean into the hops, and is thankfully free of candy, lactose, or children’s cereal. Good.

Keg at the brewpub, 11/7/19. Clear copper large foamy white head good retention. Aroma of pine, lemon. Taste is pine, citrus, pale malt. Medium bodied high bitterness.

Nitro at the brewpub, 11/7/19. Black, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of smoke, roast, lactose, dark chocolate. Taste is smoke, molasses, lactose. Medium bodied lingering bitterness.

Murky brown large creamy tan head good retention. Aroma of strong banana, caramel, leaves. Taste is banana, clove, caramel, spice. Thin, lingering spice.

Keg at the brewery. Thin head. Aroma of cranberry and tart cherry, pale malt, pepper, tannins. Taste is grape, cherry, cranberry. Medium bodied low sourness juicy.

A slightly hazy gold with a large white head. Aroma is yeast esters and white toast. Flavor is white pepper spice with some yeast esters. A bit chewy for the style and I'm guessing that's the oats used. Pretty good.
