Can at the DFW Flying Saucer. Pours a clear, dark, brown color, with a medium, creamy, tan head. The nose is caramel, toast, resinous hops, and bread dough. Sweet and malty, with a mellow bitterness. Light to medium body, with a sticky, grainy mouthfeel. Malt forward, like a weak brown ale. Not bad.

A six pack of Super Hawk obtained this day in close-by Odessa. Needed an IPA of some sort to finish off the evening, here you go. A 12 oz can, I am underwhelmed, gets opened and poured into a large snifter glass. A very nice pour, dark orange in body with a foamy, intense, light brown head. The smell brings me in, light grass, a bit of pine, maybe a hint of tropical fruit. But it is the drink that pays, orange peel, lemon, cedar, all with a small sweetness,an appreciated bitterness. 10.1% abv, where is it? No indication. Great value in a sixer, bang for the buck.

Canned at Ginger Man, Plano. Clear deep nut brown, small head. Caramelly toasty nose. Mid sweet with light-medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Crystal malt and brown sugar, toast and coffee. Light spicy bitterness. Session Bock might be another beer anomaly, like Black IPA or Imperial low alcohol, but accurately describes this beer; a lighter version of an American style bock.
