Description
A modest jewel in the Luxembourgish brewing world, Brasserie Simon is both a keeper of the soul of good beer and a creative rebel. Rich in its independence, the company emphasizes the quality of its products and customer service to strengthen its Luxembourg roots.
At Brasserie Simon, we take the time: our fermentation process is still separated into two stages as we did always: a main fermentation in open vats which is followed by maturation in closed vats. A small craft brewery since 1824, Brasserie Simon is the only brewery in Luxembourg to have the latest generation open fermentation tanks guaranteeing the taste of real beers from the past.

The IPA from this smallish and very traditional Luxemburg brewery, bottle shared by Stefan, cheers! Snow white, dense, moussy, stable head over a hazy straw blonde beer with peachy hue, cloudy and more ochre with sediment. Aroma of dried grapefruit peel, old mandarins, unripe green melon, white bread, red apple peel, cloves, dough, pear, wormwood, white pepper. Fruity onset, dried apricot with a hint of pineapple, restrainedly sweetish and a tad sourish, medium carbonated with a supple mouthfeel. Bread crust- and cereal-like maltiness with sharpish grainy edges; long hop bitter finish, floral, earthy and spicy, a bit grapefruity, drying and adequate, but a bit ’anonymous’, with yeasty phenolic accents piercing through. Belgian-style IPA in all respects: too yeasty, too straightforward and a bit bland for a style now executed all over the world, but within the specific context of this tiny and ’zythologically’ very traditional country, not a bad effort. I could have this any day if I would take a holidays in Luxemburg.

Fles in Luxemburg geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is helder geel bier met een medium schuimkraag. Weinig koolzuur. De smaak is graan achtig, beetje waterig.

Fles geprobeerd met LiekevdV op de camping. Het is een troebel licht geel bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het ruikt wat gist achtig. De smaak is fris en een beetje zuur.

33cl metal bottle from a kiosk at Gare Luxembourg. Pours clear pale golden with a modest white head. Mild grainy aroma with grassy notes and hints of herbs, cooked vegetables and sweet fruits. Moderate sweet with mild flavours, but a quite okay bitterness. Not particularly tasty, but drinkable enough and a step up from the regular pale lagers here.

Flasche Orange, klar, kein Schaum. Geschmack: Sehr malzig, Hopfen. Aroma: leichter Fruchthintergrund, wenig Bitter, leichte Malzsüsse, im Nachgeschmack ein typisches Pils, im Geschmack zuvor aber etwas zu fruchtig.

33cl bottle from Luxembourg Airport. Pours slightly hazy deep golden to amber with an off-white head. Mild fruity and hoppy aroma with malty notes, hints of yeast and citrus. Moderate to medium sweet with fairly mild flavours and bitterness. Tasty and easy to drink, but on the boring side.

Bottle @ home. Pale colour, white foam disappears quickly. Malty, bit grassy, some grainy notes. Taste is thin and watery, easy drinkable. Meh
