Description
A modest jewel in the Luxembourgish brewing world, Brasserie Simon is both a keeper of the soul of good beer and a creative rebel. Rich in its independence, the company emphasizes the quality of its products and customer service to strengthen its Luxembourg roots.
At Brasserie Simon, we take the time: our fermentation process is still separated into two stages as we did always: a main fermentation in open vats which is followed by maturation in closed vats. A small craft brewery since 1824, Brasserie Simon is the only brewery in Luxembourg to have the latest generation open fermentation tanks guaranteeing the taste of real beers from the past.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow with white overtone, the head was creamy jello white. The aroma is citrus and very wheatie. The taste is a mix of acidic fruit/citrus and dry wheat along with some spices.

Danke an FaustusI! Test vom 15.10.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,5,7,5,13,6 - 6,40

Bottled. Hazy pale yellow. Citric, lemony nose. Dryish, light and simple with some acidity and not much else. Freshening at best, but not really good.

(bottle, received by trade from Saarlander - thanks !) Clear, ruby amber colour with a medium-sized, slightly tanned foamy head. Sweet toast-malty aroma with strong notes of caramel and liquorice. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toast-malty, nutty and slightly grainy taste with caramel and faint fruity notes of dried fruits; sweet, slightly sugary finish with a whiff of bitterness.

Trocken-fruchtiger Geruch. Test vom 20.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,7,9,8,6,8 - 7,90

Ok, beer from Luxembourg which comes with a gimmick - 8 % of "champagne" mixed with speltbeer and packed to stylish black bottle. This one is pale yellow with small white head. Sweetish, fruity, a bit sugary aroma. Flavor is - well - a mix of saison and champagne. Champagne waters down saison-like cellary and grainy flavors and adds some extra bubbles. Nothing so "prestige" here, but I liked dry mouthfeel in the aftertaste.

Pale lemon yellow, a bit hazy, small steady white head. Czech pils-like honeyish hoppy aroma. Crisp carbonation. Dry, average hoppy, German-like unfiltered pils. Not very exciting.

Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is mainly hops. Flavour is hoppy bitterness along with an alcoholic style sting. Tastes more like a beer drink than a beer. Quite boring and empty beer in my opinion.

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is quite typical malts and hops, maybe slightly sweeter. Flavour is malts, hops and very bready. A pleasantly balanced and refreshing brew.
