Description
It all started with a humble homebrew kit and the drive to make better beer. Tired of the same bland and dated choices everywhere, Air Force friends Eric Wallace and Dick Doore set out to make the kind of beer that excited them; beer they wanted to drink. A hobby quickly became an obsession and it wasn't long before Left Hand Brewing opened for business on January 22, 1994. Left Hand has steadily increased its production, making the Brewers Association’s Top 50 Craft Brewers list in 2012.

There is something just flat and throw away about this beer. No lingering flavour, no real aromatic smell. Boo hiss.

Can (7/19/24) pour from Total Wine & More, Burlington. Opaque dark brown with trace sparkle, ring of head and no lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malt & peanuts, vanilla, milk chocolate. Taste is strong roasted malt & peanut butter, lactose and mild cherry. Smooth, thick texture, full body, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Lactose a bit strong.

Bottle, 0.355l. Aroma is herbal, grainy, mild caramelly and faint citrusy. Pours clear brown amber color with medium sized soapy cappuccino-like head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts medium sweet caramelly and grainy, following is herbal, mild fruity and slightly medicinal, mouthfeel is rather dry, while finish is average bitter. Medium body, creamy texture and soft carbonation in palate. A bit blunt saw…

Nitro at the Uprise Taproom. Pours black, with a big, frothy, tan head. The aroma is mellow mint, milk chocolate, cinnamon, and butterscotch. Sweet and malty, with no real bitterness. Medium body, smooth, and clean. Nice.
